Nightwalk thread?
Saw a couple of these pop quite a while ago. Why do you do it, what have you encountered while out?

I like it because it's so calm and quiet. I saw a girl swinging on some swings once before at around 1am, I couldn't get the courage to approach her though.
>>
>>24708786
Almost got arrested when going for a jog at around 2am
>>
>>24708831
Why? I've never had police talk to me when I go night walking/jogging.

>>24708786
I do it when I'm bored.
>>

Same thing happened to me but I had my ear buds in and I was on a Zombie Run app (don't ask) Cops were following me for 5 blocks and I didn't even notice them.

I walk to the bridge at my college sometimes, I just stare down and think about jumping off.

That's rough, it's such a comfy time to go jogging

>>24708854
How often is that?
>>
>>24708884
There's a bridge that goes over some train tracks along one of the routes I take, maybe about 15 meters high. I dangle my legs over and wait for a train sometimes and think about it.
>>
>>24708887
At least once every week. So not too often. Its very relaxing; I do it often when I can't sleep and don't feel like playing vidya.

So comfy. Listening to audiobooks in the dead of night is great. Mostly poetry and short stories.

There is a great audiobook of Borges' Ficciones in Spanish. Man oh man, listening to Borges alone in the dark in the hours before bed, that's something magic.

Maybe it's the scumbag avoidant autist sperg in me but. In what circumstances does it seem like a good idea to speak to some JUST because?

I'm not saying this ironically but why are you here? With the underlying traits of people here that's like the complete opposite of what would be considered a good idea.

Not sure if this qualifies but a couple times a week I'll walk for about 2-4 hours in a random direction and then just take the bus back home (although I haven't been doing it as much lately cause I've been lazy). If you haven't tried it I highly recommend it. I live in LA and I've gotten to know this city inside and out (it's eh). I used to skate but then my board got run over by a bus so now its back to walking.

Only done it on some occasions when feeling troubled, I would always walk around the neighbourhood and go sit by the pond for a little while.
On summers I'd try to wake up an hour or two before dawn and go cycling around the city. Empty streets, no traffic or noises, pretty relaxing to start the day off like that.

I mean, fuck. You can't try and empathize with me, not successfully, not with a person who hasn't spoken more than a four word sentence to people in over two months.

I stopped talking to people man, I don't mean to project my issues onto you. I apologize for that.
But when I did see reason to talk to people, I damn sure had a reason, it was never on a whim. I couldn't bear to have people spontaneously talk to me, just to kill time for themselves and ease tention that only THEY felt with nothing but menial topics to spew out, so I couldn't bear to do it to another.

Speaking without reason just seems alien to me, it always has. The urge to speak at all is understandable, but the lengths people will go to, to sate it unsettles me.
>>
>>24709100
I am super uncomfortable around strangers and I lack good social skills, but talking with people I don't know is one of the few pleasures in my life.

When someone turns to me to make a comment in public, even just "long line, eh?" it lifts my mood. I try not to engage them in conversation when they're just making a passing comment, but when someone is talkative, old people tend to be, I like to really talk to them. From time to time I eat my food with a stranger when in a fast food/takeout restaurant alone.

Yet at the same time I have a real struggle making and keeping friends and my first response to most social opportunities is to say no.
>>
>>24708786
I like it because it's quiet. Calm. Cold. Dark. It feels like you're the only person alive.
I struggle with anxiety, and nightwalks are basically the only times I feel like I can go outside and not be at all scared about it. I'm far more at ease going on an hour's nightwalk to the supermarket which is open 24/7 except Sundays, than 10 minutes to the nearest store which is only open during the daytime.

Strangest thing I've seen on a nightwalk is someone sleeping right at the door of a lingerie store. Wasn't sure if they were homeless or just drunk way too much that night.
>>
>>24709190
Dude, if you're walking around drunk at night, you're going to get your shit fucked up

>>24709203
Maybe he wanted to give you a ride
>>
Post your nightwalk soundtracks friends
>>
Anybody else become very introspective during night walks. It's like, any other time of the day, I'm bombarding myself with some kind of media. But walking at night is like a form of meditation, always makes my mind go to interesting, and sometimes uncomfortable, places.
>>
>>24709260
i'll bet he did
>>
>>24709260
I'll admit I've never gotten drunk TO go walk around at night, but plenty of times I've found myself walking around drunk for extended periods of time and nothing comes of it

Mostly walks to McDonalds and back, but I never feel in danger. I'm Canadian for what that's worth. I don't feel the threat of being mugged at any moment and I've never heard of cops arresting someone for public drunkenness without being provoked

>Why do you do it?
I feel the uncontrollable need to wander around aimlessly when I'm depressed (i.e. constantly), and walking outside is less boring than pacing between the walls of my bedroom. At night, I get the opportunity to do this without being seen, which is nice.
>What have you encountered?
Nothing. I live in the middle of nowhere in a small, boring town where nobody is out after 10PM and everything closes on Sunday.
>>
>>24709412
Nah, deep down I think I do want someone to talk to me, but about what I want them to talk to me about.
Which is worse, because it makes me a malicious autist that wants to manipulate people.

I seldom want to talk to other people cause i'm empty man. I ran out of nice things to say, interesting things, positive things. I'd rather not speak at all much to anyone. But I do crave something worth speaking about. But I'm not going to find it. It's how things work.

Thrown for a loop until I find a reliable way off the ride. I had a good run honestly.

This would be great if my city wasn't mostly ghetto blacks.

I used to get high before I left walk a mile down the backroads to either go the east side park or the west side park. There's a harbor with a park/swingset where the boats pass and twin bridges right next to it.

You wouldn't believe how amazing that spot was. Would go there for years until one day when I was walking to hit the back roads some nigger tried getting me to stop gun in hand. He tried to intercept whatever direction I was fleeing from. I think that's what stopped me from doing this anymore.

i wish i could do this more often but i don't want my parents to find out since they would probably lose their shit over it. i take the train to somewhere further away from the city where you can see the stars when it's a cloudless night. i hate seeing cars passing me and the best feeling is walking in the forest at night. at first i was frightened because of the darkness in there but you quickly learn to just let your feet guide you without seeing much. i still feel anxious though when there is no moon nor stars to be seen at all. the moon is such a comfy companion to look up to at nightwalks.

By hick logic, anyone out late on a Saturday night is up to no good, because wouldn't they want some sleep before church?

Also, there's a military base just down the street and the people here are pretty protective of it. They see a hooded figure walking in that general direction, they'll dial 911 in a heartbeat. I've had cops roll by and patrol a lot but I always run and hide.

I miss doing that. There'd be times where I'd just feel like saying things to kinda break the barrier a little. Like mentioning how packed the peak hour train is.

One time a girl actually approached me when I was laughing at this tabletop roleplay I was watching on my phone.

Any Ausbots in this thread? Just got back from my night walk.

>Dark as hell, little to no lighting on the streets here

I been walking at night recently, but before 10pm, yesterday I walked 4 hours. I found a folded up dollar on the sidewalk, and when I opened it there was a pile of white power, probably coke, but I wound't know. I shook it off, and wiped it off with a wet wipe when I got home.

>go for a walk in Los Angeles
>50 people randomly ask you for money or cigarettes
This is literally the only time people ever talk to you in public, except for the occasional person asking for directions. And its been happening more and more often, not just seated beggars, but random ass passersby asking you for money constantly. Is it because there are lots of rich people who actually give people money when they ask, so now begging has become more popular.

Seriously, its a sign of the times.
>go hit on women constantly until you get a gf
>like every tinder match until you get a confirmation, spam every female OKCupid page in a 30 mile radius
>apply to 100 jobs and call the managers 5 times a day until you get a job
>go ask everyone walking down the street for money and you'll eventually get lots of money...

I like to ride with my friend at night. We live in a small town next to a larger city, and in between there are dark pitch black roads, with beautiful, heavy, saturated light pollution from all directions. She and I will stop on those roads at night, and observe.

>>24709723
I remember walking to my friends place one night and hearing someone playing in one of the courts. Was somewhat comforting knowing they were there and I don't know why. I don't really like people anymore.

Hell no. I've read so many stories on how often they get harassed/chased/stalked/nearly kidnapped. Sure you'll get those who play up awkward encounters into something way out of proportion, but it fucking sucks for the legit cases.

It's all good, would love it if you keep posting night ones.

This one reminds me of the time my older brother took me to this abandoned insane asylum near his SO's house. He'd tell me about how a crazy guy lived in a hut around there who'd shoot trespassers with a pellet gun.

That and the usual haunted house stories.

It's because you dress like autists. If you went in middle of the day with no shirt on the town to run, they'd think you're a thief.

I love nightwalks, especially since it's starting to snow and it gets dark out at 4 now.
Walking around the city is nice, but down by the lake is something else
I want there to be a /nightwalk/ general, it'd be good

I like to walk at night because no one is around to make me feel like a monster.

>People cross to the other side of the street to avoid passing me
>If I'm behind someone on the sidewalk they will constantly look behind them and quicken their pace
>I've had the cops called on me before for walking through an affluent neighborhood

It's just easier for everyone if I walk alone after dark.
