Belts are only acceptable while deadlifting, and you need to be lifting at least 3 plates to not look pathetic if you're a guy. Not sure what weight is acceptable for grills, but 99.9% of girls don't lift seriously enough to even consider it.

listen, the belt is used to assist and cinch the abdominals during the lift and take them out of the equation. it's the same idea as wrist straps if your grip is weak. both of these things are good for PRs where you just want to hit that big number but if you're doing reps with a belt you're fucking up because you're not training all the muscles needed to perform the movement and you begin to rely on the belt

I have osgood schlatters in my left knee and I find that low bar puts less pressure/ weight on my knees, so there is that. In regards to most of those categories as long as you preform both variations with proper form you should see the same development no matter which you use. you're agree using a belt for one or two sets is very different then using a belt every single time, yes? the reason I said it would atrophy is if you use the belt every single time you go to squat for example, you wont be engaging the abdominals during the lift like you normally would because you'll have the belt as a crutch and if you do that enough your other muscles will grow and the weight will go up but your abdominals still wont be able to support you at that weight and it will snowball out of control. if your abs aren't strong enough to do the lift and you need a belt you should train them until you can otherwise you're not really doing anything

And if you are going by the fact that only certain athletes can preform certain exercises then there is no point in doing ATG high bar squats unless you compete in olympic weightlifting

the leaning forward in low bar is done to have the bar over the center of the foot. If you hit depth on low bar squats very little weight is put on your knees. This leaning forward is done to compensate for the bar being lower on your back and does not shift your weight forward on your knees. If anything when you do lowbar correctly, the position and path of the bar should be exactly the same as highbar squats

Excessive arching just limits the ROM of the lift, if you don't compete why the fuck would you choose less stimulation?

The reason why I said unless you compete in powerlifting you shouldn't low bar was because low bar provides less quad stimulation and has a much lower carry over to other areas of life such as field sports and fighting. And it also has a higher injury risk due to the excessive torso lean.

Low bar changes the lift, even IF the bar path is the same. As someone else said in the thread, low bar targets a different area of the posterior chain. Hips, lower back and spinal electors. One of the main cues coaches use for high bar is "chest up and sit back". Why? Because you want to maintain an upright position for both effiency of bar path and injury prevention. You can't do this with low bar, it's a different lift.
