Does R9K respects free as FREEDOM software and is using gnu/linux? I think linux and all computers hobbys are great for robots, and linux is the step that we need to take. And of course normise can't into linux and bsd, so there is nice autistic loving community that will help you out.
few things need to work, like drivers, x.org or game, BUT THIS IS A SMALL i mean realy small price for freedom and being secure.

I dual-boot Xubuntu and Windows 7 on my desktop. I use Windows for vidya games and Xubuntu for everything else. Xubuntu works great for me, but I wouldn't feel comfortable recommending it to someone who had never used GNU/Linux before.
