The hair in OP's post is pretty immature as it's unkempt. you can have all the benefits of longer hair if you get it cut like pic related.
It's business compatible still looks uncommon and much less edgy.
I personally find dreadlock stupid, edgy and I'm sure they are unconfortable. Do you even have to maintain them in some way?
