Finish it and write your own fanfiction. Hell, draw some art of it too. I'm sure that even if it's not that popular of a book, there's bound to be a little bit of other people's fanfiction and art online somewhere. If it's popular, then you'll be able to find porn of it, too.

That's why I'm constantly on the lookout for good reads. Its like being a traveller to different worlds. In a sense I feel like it's my own version of life. I meet fantastical new people, go to amazing places and have great adventures. I bond and feel with the characters but eventually it ends.
The memories and emotions I've felt have been real. I will miss the people I have journeyed and fought with, lived and lived with, and as I fall asleep I will remember them fondly. Then a new adventure begins, I'll compare the new people and characters I meet to my old friends. I'll view scenarios through my experiences whether it be jaded or joyful.

I'm actually a /trv/fag and reading is how I got into /trv/eling. I remember I'd read all sorts of historical fiction and fantasy and horror novels when I was growing up. After I finished high school, I realized that, even as a college student, I could save money and go off to see different places and make my own stories.
Right now I'm about a third of the way through a novel about a country I once lived in for about a year and a half. While I'm not the biggest fan of the author's style, the content and plot are both solid and bring back a lot of memories.
I completely get where you're coming from, by the way. I always think of characters from books I particularly enjoyed as long-lost friends rather than fictional inventions.
