I think my Latin teacher is at a 4chan level of depression
illegitimi non carborundum.
You would be depressed too if you spent your life teaching what is basically a dead language.

no need for the qualifier "basically," it's the textbook definition of a dead language. Spoken in no country by no peoples.

Yeah, so aside from with his students and the occasional priest, he never gets to speak it. I'm not at all surprised his teacher is down in the dumps.
>>24673495
That's not the point of teaching it. Other languages we still speak today are based around it in many ways, such as German. It's also taught for historical reasons.
Basically it's like learning C with programming
>>24674424
Yeah, but I'll bet he still regrets his life choice of committing to the teaching of a language that nobody speaks.
>>24674424
Yeah, English especially is mostly Latin loanwords at advanced levels. It's impossible to really understand English vocabulary (especially in law and the sciences) without knowing Latin.
>>24674550
But the people who do speak it are generally more interesting and intelligent than slaves like you.
>>24673519
I'm pretty sure that there has been a revival to the degree it is the first language for a couple of children.
>>24674586
Then why do you think his teacher is depressed, asshole?
>>24674881
correlations =/= causation
>>24674919
At any rate, without further input from OP it's a pretty dead thread I would say. Latin dead.
>>24674424
What a terrible comparison.

>Other languages we still speak today
Most of them will soon dissapear too. There's only the need for one language in our new world order, and it will be English or Latino Sine Flexion.
By which I mean, it will be english.
