I got fired a few months ago.
My employer was a complete pussy about it though, they just said that they "wouldn't be requiring my services anymore" and even offered me a reference.
I got fired because I finished my work in the first two hours of every day and then just dicked around on the computer until clocking off. I should have been more subtle or actually looked for more work to do.

If you REALLY needed the money:
Apply to at 100 jobs a day every day, write down the name of the employer, date you applied, position and contact number of each job. After 2 weeks if you havent gotten any callbacks, call every job you applied to to ask about the status of your application.

I've never been fired, but I did get "let go" one time for petty reasons.
