It doesn't matter how much you market to women, there will never be a 50/50 gender split in hardcore FPS titles for instance.

Let me get this straight. Video games were advertised for everyone back in the 80s and the industry crashed because of shitty games. Nintendo focused on boys and it was a success. Fast forward to the late aughts. Advertisers and developers started getting lazy and putting out shitty games. They then started focusing on women to increase market share. Where does that leave us now?
