Why are normies so obsessed with having a job? Why do they see it as something desirable and fantastic rather than a necessary evil or a nuisance?

I've heard of people getting depressed because they don't have a job and don't know what to do with themselves all day. How does this happen? How is free time considered a negative to normal people?
>>
Some people enjoy the rest of their lives, and I guess it seems plausible that they could find fulfillment working to live the rest of their lives the way they want to.

Of course if you hate your life and just work to survive, it's hell
>>
Having a good income is desirable
>>
Because not being productive leads you to being a victim to your own thoughts.

Notice how these Depression and tfw no gf threads are made by NEETs
>>
>>24650029
Because the only alternative is being a parasite off other's hard work. Sure the free time that comes with being a neet is fun, but in the back of your head that fact is always fucking there.
>>
>>24650029
these same people bitch about their jobs constantly after they get one again.

Work fucking blows ive tried being a wageslave and while I didn't mind the actual work I hated interacting with co workers. I also hated the fact it took my entire day. Literally every day I went to work was a day I was dead inside. The only time I ever felt alive was the 2 days I had off every week.

If you can be neet then fucking do it. If you cannot then save and invest as much money as possible and retire as quickly as you can. Fuck having a GF or wife that is just guaranteeing you will work your self to death.
>>
>>24650029
Because I need a job so I am not out on the streets? You do realize not everyone has parents who let their kids leech them off or not everyone is an autistic tard who want to spend all day everyday behind a screen
>>
>>24650029
I actually like interacting with other people, having a top tier salary and live the luxery life. I can do all things I want.

>tfw no robot anymore
>>
>>24650069
>>24650123
It doesn't even seem income driven. A lot of unemployed normies would rather work for free than be at home alone.
>>
>>24650182
>I can do all things I want

If it's after 6 or on a weekend day. Very crowded timeslots when you have to fit your entire life's interests and necessities into them.
>>
>>24650232
I like my job, have enough days offto go on vacation or do shit I like. Living the dream. Just got a gf. Life is great
>>
>>24650232
>Very crowded timeslots when you have to fit your entire life's interests and necessities into them.
and just what the hell do you need so much time for? do you build particle accelerators as your hobby?
>>
>>24650377
No, I'm an introvert with a richer inner life. Time is precious to me and isn't measured on worth by how it benefits others.
>>
>>24650377
Yeah, I mean if you go to bed at midnight you have 6 or so hours to do whatever you want. More if you sacrifice some sleep.

The only way I can see having ZERO free time if you work is if you're a full blown normie with 3 kids or something.
>>
>>24650427
>richer inner life
what do you mean by this
>>
>>24650029
Most people don't actually want a job, but it beats living on the street.
Genuinely don't understand why people complain about having to much free time though. Normies are wierd
>>
Normal people really are so stupid if they aren't told what to do they lay in bed staring at a wall all day. They really barely even count as people.

I have to wagekek but I plan on retiring in my 30s. Even more than people not knowing how to do things on there own I'm completely unable to imagine any reason anyone would wait until their 60s. What's weird is that's how many normies do it. At that point they've wasted their entire life and never did anything productive. Why bother retiring now? They should just work until they die.
>>
>>24650377

Time is our most precious resource. How can you have such disregard for it you think doing nothing with your life is a good idea? Your ticket is only good for one ride on this planet. You should make use of it.
>>
>>24650029
because you gotta pay for your shit?

duh

read somewhere 80k a year is the sweet spot, anything happy after that has to be spiritualistic or intellectual
>>
>>24650799
>r9k
>productive

ehhh boi, so that you get your tendies and internet and fap material :D
>>
>>24650875
It's actually 50k, recent study done by Harvard.
>>
>>24650895

Could you try posting that again but in a way that makes sense? The autism is so thick even I can't figure out what you're attempting to convey.
>>
>>24650875

That's bullshit. 20k buys a person everything they could possibly want and then some. I guess there's nothing wrong with saving the excess so you can shop working sooner. I can't imagine wasting even half that much. Anyone living paycheck to paycheck should be shot so a real person could have their job and use the salary better.
>>
>>24650917
>50k
Sounds completely false
>>
Wait, some normies actually want a job for that job's sake? I thought they wanted a job for the money.
>>
>>24651023

The money is just a slight benefit. They like having someone to boss them around. For one it gives them something to do. They are literally too stupid to come up with things to do on their own, but the main thing is it absolves them from responsibility. They don't want the gift of freedom, they can't handle it. They submit to another and then they have someone else to blame for being a bad person.

>I'd be an astronaut rock star drug dealing president if only I didn't have more important things to do, like Mr Shekelstein's data entry.
>>
>>24651465
This, basically. Well said
>>
>>24651023
Normies love being part of a collective and jobs let them feel like an important cog in a machine.

Because from the ages 5-18 they get stuck in the 9-3 school grind

When they are done with that they are completely lost
>>
>>24650977
assuming they're living in a place with decent rent and buy cheap shit. Some locations are just made to shit on people. An example would be new york.
>>
>>24651490
it is true though

if you lose enough normies the machine doesn't run anymore and everybody's fucked except the crazy dude who lives in the woods
>>
>>24651465

What's said is they aren't even capable of coming up with their own dreams. They got the idea of being an astronaut rock star drug dealing president from a movie they watched on their designated 2 days of freedom.
>>
>turned 18
>just did nothing but volunteer on farms in exchange for room and board
>came back to the city and became a hobo
>people who knew me in high school confide in me how they wish they had the courage to do what I did

they're so obsessed with what others think that they will sacrifice their own happiness. it's sad really.
>>
Someone with a job here.

Ask me anything.
>>
>>24651520

New York has pretty good salaries. They have only themselves to blame if they only make $15/hr. They could move and make that anywhere else and enjoy a higher quality of life.
>>
>>24650029
I don't care what you do, but I'd rather not depend on anyone. I'm nobody's bitch.
>>
Because they are obsessed with social status, and having a job is a boost in social status.
>>
>>24651611
Aren't you depend on your boss?
>>
>>24651611
I never got this argument. You depend on getting money from the people employing you just as much as the NEET depends on money from their parents or the government.
>>
>>24651532

I'm not so sure. Cashiers and clerks have been worthless for a few years now. The positions exist only as a time sink. Self serve kiosks do everything they do much bettbetter, faster, and cheaper. It's jobs for the sake of jobs.
>>
>>24651619
Not so much a boost as it is a requirement for a social status
>>
>>24651687

How do you figure that? The only status it gives you is peasant wageslave. The neets and retired are far superior to them in every way.
>>
>>24650123
>Because the only alternative is being a parasite off other's hard work
If that hard work is being done by a machine, there is no shame in being a parasite off it.
>>
>>24650029
I don't give a shit about a job. I just want money.

If I were some card-counting autistic genius I'd go turn 5$ into a million dollars. If I were gay and also remotely attractive, I'd suck dick for money. If I had a car (which requires money) and a social life, I'd sell drugs, etc.
>>
>>24651667
Cashiers and clerks represent how much of your country's workforce?

Also, it depends on the country, self serve kiosks would be a pretty bad idea if it is in an area with high rate of thief and vandalism. You'd still have to hire security and people to put merchandise on the shelf.

I don't see full automation anytime soon.
>>
>>24651773
>if

if you aren't so much of a nigger maybe you'd consider contribute to the humanity?
>>
>>24650029
Source of income. Not everyone is a worthless leach who still lives with parents.
>>
>>24651743
>The neets and retired

I'm retired and I feel insulted. Please don't talk about our kin again.
>>
>>24651743
neets are literal slaves to their parents. They don't always get beaten by them, and if they do a good job of picking the fields, I mean, cleaning their room and collecting enough GBPs they might be treated to something extra special like a super-sized McDonalds meal.

NEETs cannot leave their parents' home as slaves cannot leave their masters' estate, unless they get kicked out.

A "wageslave" can go anywhere and do anything with his own money, can quit his job and find another, can leave his apartment or house and find another.

Independence is freedom.
>>
>>24650029
Eh. I just sit at a desk and answer phones all day low stress lots of hours so its like meh. I don't have a job because I want one though Dingus, I have a job cause I need one. People don't become depressed from not having a job and having nothing to do. It's not having a job and not knowing how you're going to pay your bills that makes people depressed. But maybe you're just too much of a neetkek dumb ass with no real responsibility so you wouldn't be able to understand.
>>
>>24650029
because I have dignity?

>hey man what do you do for a living?
>GBPs farming
>>
>>24651743
Because nobody thinks like that. Normies think employment = success.

Having a job is like having a car, a degree, a romantic partner, a house. It's a trinket of success.
>>
>>24650833
Wow I thought this board was free of Normie platitudes on this level. That steaming pile of shit is the worst platitude I've ever read. It makes "just lift bro" and "be yourself" sound brilliant in comparison.
>>
>>24651932
what is success?
>>
>>24651971

it is true though, your time is limited
>>
>>24652064
>not living outside of time
bleb
>>
>>24650029
have a min wage shit job is being a wage slave

however having a career in something you might enjoy or atleast not hate in desirable
>>
>>24652020
accomplishing normie feats. Getting a job, getting a partner, owning a property, being educated. It's success since the masses recognises them as achievements of value.
>>
>>24650029
Because they need money to attract women

That's it.
>>
>>24651465
So tell me what NEETs do with all that free time? From what I read here it's a lot of fapping, shitposting, vidya and being depressed. If they're so creative and free why are so many like that?
>>
>>24650480
That i enjoy having time for myself and not need to distract myself with a job I hate to pass time
>>
>>24652091
The salary man in Japan isn't a minimum wage worker, they're reasonably paid middle class who feel obliged to provide for their honour and their family.
Shame is the biggest fear in Japan and being unemployed is the greatest shame.
>>
get money

fuck bitches

faggots.
>>
>>24652064
It's not true. Time is not limited, life is everlasting.
>>
>>24652205
Indulging their passions. Sitting in a room all day thinking about life is more productive to an introvert than being told to do some menial task for money.
>>
>>24652158
I want to find some way to restore damage done to cartilage by self-immune disease such as rheumatoid arthritis, it would be a success for me if I can find one

what is your general goal?
>>
>>24650029
I only get depressed when I'm unemployed because I have no money; I can't give two shits about "muh fulfillment" and "muh contribution to society"
>>
>>24651971

Actually most normies are like you and don't care about their time. Their time has no value so I guess that's why they don't value it. I don't understand why they become hostile to these who do value their time though.

Normie arguments never seem to go further than
>stop liking things I don't like
>why?
>because I don't like nhosethose things
>>
>>24652311
Same for me. I'm neet, but I sold something on ebay the other day for $60 and I was so happy.

I do too many things to list, but I'm particularly interested in alcohol. I do tastings and take notes. I write ideas for my own recipes, try new methods, read about the rich history surrounding it, read about everything related to alcohol really, design alcohol production systems, I even get into aesthetics, designing labels, presentations, and more. I never gave ceramic much thought but I want to try making a few ceramic decanters for use with chinaman wines and spirits. I love ceramic beer bottles but I wouldn't risk diy there. I've found the bottles for sale it ceramic in different colors and finishes. Alcohol alone is enough to keep a person occupied.

After discovering people up cycling something related to alcohol for 20x to 30x profit I've decided to get in on it too. One probproblem with alcohol is its an expensive dobby. Fortunately much can be diy'd, and the best spirits, bourbon and tequitequila, are relatively cheap in America. I'd probably be pretty bummed if I liked that nasty Scottish rotgutt. Single malt, blend, diluted 1:100 with soda, the shit is nigh undrinkable. Gin is similar. American gin yummy and floral. British gin is trash and tastes like Christmas tree cum mixed with dirt.

I'm currently experimenting with infusions as well. I'm a bourbon man but tequila is fascinating. I've tried a couple different ratios of plata and reposado tequila. Usually plata is gross but I need the floral forward shit with just a little oaky mellowness. I got some jamaica I'm steeping it in. Alcohol draws out the bitter a lot faster than water. I saved the resulting product but it will be hard to find a use for it. I always surprise myself with new ideas though so I have to keep everything and good notes. Inspiration strikes at unpredictable times.

I'm more interested in the roid monkey shit but have you considered drugs? It's been a while since I focused my full autism on it. I forgot a lot of the stuff I studied except for what I deemed relevant to my goals or interesting. I think nandrolone is like some kind of godsend for joint shit, probably some oral is good too, anavar maybe? There's lots of interesting peptides too, like tb-500, I never really bothered with reading on them much though.

I was dx'd juvenile rheumatoid arthritis but thankfully sit went away. I think I have more aches and pains than most normies but comparatively speaking I'm way better than I was as a kid. I think it does something to the liver too. I remember specialists saying something about fucked up enzymes. I didn't care at the time. I got drug induced cholestasis from 9 days on tbol, generally considered a light on the liver roid. Maybe that's why I have loli levels of alcohol tolerance. You never realize how comforting it is to see a bowl full of brown until you've shat ghost white kkk turds that come out like marshmallow mousse and smell worse than any shit should ever smell. I legit thought I was dying and obsessively checked my eyes for yellow for nearly a month.

The richest areas in any country are also, infallibly, the safest. Full, maybe not, but partial automation is coming very soon. We don't need EVERYONE to lose their job before it becomes a problem, just around 20%.
>>
>>24652209
No kidding. I know this girl who got married to a Japanese guy and she makes like 5 times more than him, but he's still hell bent on working and making enough to provide for them both because otherwise it'd be shameful.
>>
>>24652209
I live in a country where we believe in workers rights
If you cant find a single career that might interest you there is something wrong with you
>>
Because you need money to prove your social status.
And you need social status to get sex.
It's all about sex to normies, don't ever forget that.

>>24653638

My problem is I'm prone to flights of fancy. I will become obsessed with a project, pour every bit of myself I can into it, then after a few weeks the inspiration dries up and I find myself engrossed in another project, usually cycling through 2 or 3 more before returning to the first. Luckily I keep good notes and can pick back up where I left off after just a few hours of refresher work, but that shit doesn't fly with employees. They don't care that anything gets done, is innovative, or even good. They just want to see you busy. I've wage slaved and the inefficiency of the system is mind blowing. Even if you ignore the women and office fauna positions, the men are stuck doing things wrong over and over, and no one is questioning this shit. I tried to help but it was met with strange hostility. I wasn't even going full autism with split testing or optimization, it was little stuff like suggesting we print stuff on the printer 20ft away from us instead of on the identical model printer 35ft away and in another room. I can forgive them for not knowing how to click on the printer icon or add printers or change settings, but they got passed and demanded I reset it to the old way. I didn't even change the default from the distant printer, I just added the good printer so the option was there. They wouldn't even know it's there unless the click select printer. This is one of many clashes too. They could sell those inefficient and very expensive pepsiPepsi coolers modded to hold lunch on Craigslist, maybe even get $100 for it and buy two good real refrigerators. They would pay for themselves in 5 years, even ignoring the $100 made on Craigslist, that could go straight in the bosses pocket. I didn't even bother mentioning decor, nevermind appearing professional or employee morale, let's keep those dusty 90s discolored and damaged ad posters up. I could only work if I were able to do the work but it was managed my someone exactly like me but isn't me.

Most people simply cannot function and simply fall apart without a boss telling them what to do.

Independence is a terrifying thing.
