Electricians can make more than sys admins, so that isn't a bad career choice either.
For sys admin you either need some kind of an experience in IT, even if it's being an intern, a helpdesk agent or w/e, so your employer sees that you are good with computers.
From that step onwards it depends what kind of a sys admin do you want to be.
Marketing system? Network admin? Something more custom?

OP I was a NEET during my whole 20's and I still avoided retailshit when I came back into society at 30.
Community college was chill as fuck. Just make up some story about how you're a recovering drug addict trying to get his life together or something. I found an easy admin job there while I was studying for their nursing program. I even lost my wizard card because I was surrounded by younger Stacies with daddy issues most of the time (though I guess this is likely with a retail job too).

Why go into retail unless you're aspiring to be a manager someday?
Warehouse, materials handler, security, environmental services, hospital clerk, any kind of tech in meical or IT, so many things that aren't retail. There's welding, hvac, and plumbing which don' take too long to get through and pay a shitload of money. Some trades are even really fucking cool, like machinists. You play with tools, computers, and metal to make cool shit and it's practical for lots of your hobbies too.
I believe I would write freelance before doing retail. If you have even basic skill you can get to around $15/hr pretty easy. Some desperate college kids will even pay you $10/page to write their papers. Now there's some easy money. It doesn't even matter if it's written well, just that it's written right. They get an A and you get repeat customer and word of mouth.
