You have to take into consideration their cultural and educational background, and what they contribute to society economically.

The President doesn't even have a lot of domestic power in the first place. He can operate the military and negotiate with other countries, but he can't make laws. Everything Trump, Sanders, and Clinton will ever say about what they'll do is actually just ideas they're pitching to Congress. All the President can do for bills is approve of them or veto them before they are passed and made into laws. We're pretty much voting for the next ideas guy, even though our job as citizens is to be ideas men ourselves.
