Post songs that are important to you, or have a significant meaning to you or have been a big part of your life.
Rather other people's song, and guess what they mean. You must listen to the entire song critically, and try to really understand the message.

The Earl Sweatshirt song is basically my life. My dad has not been in my life since I was about 12. He has done horrible things to our family and I'm supposed to hate him but I still miss him and he's been basically my only real best friend in my whole life.
>It's probably been twelve years since my father left, left me fatherless
>And I just used to say I hate him in dishonest jest
>When honestly I miss this nigga, like when I was six
>And every time I got the chance to say it I would swallow it
I was blown away at how hard this hit me when I first heard the song.
Also the rest of the song about not quite feeling like you fit in with any group of people hit me hard too. I went to a private all boy high school, and as atransperson I never really felt like I belonged and I was made fun of for being "gay" a lot and it was just really hard finding people to connect with.
I now have a pretty bad prescription drug problem which is what the second song was about.
Okay I'm done blogging, sorry.

I'm well acquainted with lonliness and rejection, as well as addiction
I've tried numerous times to bury myself in self serving philosophies in order to give credence to my own loneliness, and I'm still unable to cope with my lack of humanity
I don't know how one fixes this, the next method i'm going to attempt is powerful psychedelic drugs, so that I can attempt to analyze my life through a different lens.

Soundtracks from video games that I played in my childhood always put me in a certain emotional state. But none of them can do it like Ocarina of Time does.
I can't even listen to any of these in full right now, I only heard them long enough to copy the links and post them here. I'm tearing up just from hearing the beginning parts of them.
This game symbolizes a point in my life that was far more innocent, far more genuine, truthful and meaningful. It was a time when I still felt some optimism for myself and for the world, for the future. It was a time when I felt some sort of actual happiness, something I haven't felt since 2001.
I wish I had died that year. August, 2001, a few days after my birthday. Everything after that has been a slow decline filled with misery, disappointment and broken dreams.

I had never seen the translation before, but I always thought it was about moving forward regardless of how shitty or ridiculous life gets. You don't just listen to the same music on repeat for hours on end, you listen to new shit, gauge it, if you like the sound, you listen to the lyrics, then eventually you try to sing along with it. Then do it all again. There's so much music you just refresh yourself. I started during 40 minute commutes to uni, listened to a new album each day. You get a lot of duds but there's a satisfaction from something that hits your specific spots.

that's some really solid chiptune. reminds me of the FF6 soundtrack. I feel like sometimes they did more with the limitations back then than modern sound producers do, really trying to capture the essences of a level or what they wanted you to feel while doing something. Halo did a pretty good job with that, but after that EVERYBODY wanted some epic choir and orchestral shit with their games. Marty O' Donnell started a trend and nobody did it as good as him.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WPEWTSJqUmI
Honestly, feel like a lot of games are like this these days. Too busy sticking their own heads up their asses to be concerned with how they really feel with their product. I know it's part nostalgia, and partly the verdict of history (you only see the good stuff, not the really shitty stuff), but I feel like the pickings have been slimmer and slimmer post-Millennium. As the industry becomes more monolithic, there's less incentive to diversify.

She thinks that I go out with the tide and fade at the end of the day
She thinks my hair's ain't numbered and when pricked I won't cry in pain
Just 'cause I smile like a child born yesterday
And she thinks that I was born in another age
She thinks that I get up with the sun and dream my life away
And she thinks, 'cause I'm saying nothing, that I've got nothing to say
Just 'cause I smile like a child born yesterday
Born yesterday, born yesterday, born yesterday
Born yesterday, born yesterday
And she thinks that I was born yesterday
She thinks that I came into this world born without a name
And she thinks that I'm going nowhere 'cause I stay at one place
And 'cause I smile like a child born yesterdayAlso the album cover is pretty badass
>>24610872
>nobody did it as good as him.
That's because Donnell knew how to capture the atmosphere of the level and put it into music. He didn't do it because choir music is badass, but because it would fit into the game the way he implemented it.
The music is one reason why I still remember my first seconds playing the starting level of Halo 3. It really goes without saying what a masterpiece Halo is without including the including the game play. Heck, even the main menu of Halo 3 almost makes me cry.
Thanks for reminding me of the game.
>>24610926
I know it sounds stupid but those first three games really defined an era of my life. Maybe it's why i'm so dysfunctional now. But it saddens me to see what's happened to it. I miss all my XBL friends from Halo 2. They were real friendships to me, even if we all faded away.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lAF8D0ugyVk
Actually, there has never been a song I could really relate to, but when I heard this one, I actually teared up a little. Even now, when I think about it, it's perfectly explaining how I subconsciously feel.
Like, fuck, my life is just a passive existence. Everything is happening, but me. The world is spinning, but I'm not there, participating in any of it, I'm just the passive observer and I have been just that all my life. So often, I've tried to rationalize my decisions, trying to come up with excuses like that I am not interested or that I don't want to spend my days doing pointless things like partying, drinking, talking to other people who don't share the same topics and interests, but deep inside, I feel like I'm regretting it. Regretting my life and my passive behaviour.
And to me, that's what this song represents. I'm here, but I'm not really here. Things are happening, but they're not really.
Fuck my life.

beach Boys seem so out of place in 2015, it's sad in my opinion. That sort of innocent, sensitive love is dead as far as I can tell.

This is the song my mother and father used to dance to when they first dated. They divorced when I was six and haven't seen each other since and I don't talk to my dad. He was pretty shy as a young man but started drinking etc, they were both goofy people who were also pretty sensitive and so on.
