ls it a fun thing to do?
>>24599251
I like it. It's nice to have something to come home to.
They're sociable but still like their own space which suits me because I don't want the animal pestering me or hovering around me all day.
He can be annoying with wanting to go in and out all the time and the hair is a pain in the ass because it's so hard to get it off clothes/blankets.
All in all I'd say it's good but I probably won't be getting a pet for a long time after this one passes away.
It's kill it or let it live, I imagine. If you kick it, regret might kick in in return after a couple of hours.
>>24599251
It's pretty easy, as cats just go off and do their own thing most of the time. Just feed it and pet it occassionally and you'll be fine
>>24599297
>He can be annoying with wanting to go in and out all the time
How do you know that your cat wants to go out?
>>24599251
Lots of cats are dicks, ive had a few maine coon cats that were my best friends growing up.
>>24599251
>tfw love cats
>severely allergic
>tfw no autistic feline friend to share my home with
end my suffering
Think about a time when you've been on a week-long dry spell, you hit up the club, took some ecstacy and banged like 5 hardbodies in a row.
Now multiply that by ten and that's what cat ownership is like.
>>24599325
He stands beside the door and meows.
>>24599325
it goes on the computer, googles pictures from nature, prints them and gives it to you.
>>24599325
it comes up and bugs you for attention, and you just know from experience this is what it does when it needs to go out
as opposed to just owning a litterbox
>>24599395
just get a hypoallergenic cat, like a Balinese-Javanese, or a Cornish Rex. in my experience, they both make good companions.
Cat thread?
I've always had cats, can't help but be around them, I guess.
>>24599808
This was my childhood cat, he's getting pretty old now, and recently he's got very sick. He's thin and weak, and having trouble jumping and standing still. It's really sad seeing him in this condition.
>>24599937
Here's Grey. I've had him for about a year and he's probably the perfect robot cat, honestly.
Quiet and cuddly, also animated and super cute.
>>24599808
>>24599937
>>24599982
cute cats. Are they both only indoor cats?
>>24600008
Grey is, but for the majority of his life Flash was indoor/outdoor. My parents moved to a more ruralish area and keep him in now due to coyotes and whatnot.
This is my roommate's cat Ezzie.
Honestly it's pretty great, probably adopting one was the best thing I have done after I started living alone. Yes the hair can be a pain and sometimes she bites me when I am trying to sleep, but the feeling of having someone waiting for you to come home is just so great, it is so good to be doing something and then your cat comes and sits next to you (or on you) to keep you company. And taking care of them is pretty danm easy
Never really understood all the shit about cats not caring about their owners, you must be a pretty shitty one or you don't pay attention to their affection to be able to say something like this
>>24600067
Ah I see pretty cool
>>24600067
This is a stray I took care of for a few weeks.
She was probably the most affectionate cats I've ever lived with.
>>24599251
They're great pets if you're lazy but not autistic enough to own something exotic.
>>24600168
I know, makes me sad when I see these threads and people say they don't need to be paid attention to. They need to be played with and petted daily.
>>24600269
Yeah, just because you don't have to walk with them or throwing stuff for them to catch it doesn't mean attention isn't required, just letting them be near you while you work or play it's a pretty big deal
>tfw my big huggable friendly cat died at 20 years old last year
>express any sadness about it and people get mad because he was just a dumb animal and I should be over it by now
I miss my kitty so much
I just love when I am on the computer and my cat comes and lays next to the keyboard even though she normally never stays in that place if I am not near
>>24599251
she's sex oh wow 10/10
How would having a cat work if you live in an appartment? I can imagine that's it hard to control how and when your cat leaves or enters the building.
>>24600376
Those people are fuckers anon. I'm sorry.
>>24600599
If you live in the city your cat should not be allowed outside.
>>24600599
It's actually better if they don't go outside, specially if they have always lived inside
>>24600376
My catbro died two years ago and I still miss him.
Post cute cats!
My dead cat Toby appears in my dreams all the time. Sometimes it's scary and other times I get to stroke him again. he used to lie down next to my laptop fan because he liked the warmth.

Is that a Russian Blue? I recently got a Russian Blue and he's honestly the most beta animal I've ever met.
He's still a bro though.
Cheapest pet, treat it gently and don't be loud around it and give them scraps here and there and they'll love the shit out of you.

Yeah. Nebelung or Long hair Russian Blue.
Mix of Russian blue and domestic long hair, I guess.
He's pretty beta. My roommate's cat always pushes him away from the food bowl, and jumps at him randomly, but he doesn't do anything to defend himself.
Also, this is another cat I had when I was younger named Leo.
>>24601472
that's fucking awesome
>>24601606
Mine will back away if I'm walking in his general direction, even if I'm like 20ft away. He acts like I'm about to charge him.
He sometimes sits on the windowsill, and I'll go over to pet him and he'll run away and hide for a few hours. I wonder if his previous owners abused him.
>>24599251
They shit in an open box that they then dig through before walking over the kitchen counter, and occasionally try to claw out your eyes, and carry brain parasites that infect humans.
Still better than owning a lizard I guess.
>>24600168
Most people who say this kind of shit aren't good pet owners. The whole "cats want to kill you" thing is a big meme.
>>24601678
Like this guy? >>24601655
>>24601655
It's easier to contract toxoplasmosis from eating unwashed vegetables than from cat poop
>>24601654
That's unfortunate.
I'm pretty sure Grey was abused by his last owners. They apparently had him for 14-15 years, and then just abandoned him at the Humane Society.
He was fat and slow, his hair was thin and felt sickly. But now he's lost a lot of weight, he looks and acts much healthier, too.
He rarely leaves my side.

Cats literally see humans as weak, shitty cats that don't know how to hunt which is why they bring home dead rats & animals and leave them in your bed or shoes or where ever.
When they rub on you they're just marking their territory with their scent, they don't love you or care for you.

What is a catflap?
I've had cats all my life, including now.
I've never loved them.
They're basically cute toys that are alive.
I'd rather have a dog but I think it's cruel to own one without tons of open space.
>>24602761
yeah, kinda, except that you have to give them food, and some times are really annoying, just like females.
I found my cat when she was a tiny kitten and had to bottle-feed her and (hank hill voice) stimulate her anus, in order for her to pee and poop because when they're real little they don't even have the strength to go on their own (the mom licks their buttholes and eats their poop, which is mostly liquid as all they're consuming is her milk) and they'll die of constipation without help. Her ears were flat against her head and her eyes weren't even open. I would take her with me everywhere in this cool jacket I had with a kangaroo pouch thing. She's a beautiful calico and my faithful cat to this day.
I remember this crazy femanon wanted to have 12 cats and already had the names for them. What a time to be alive, when you can now consider being a crazy cat lady as an option instead of naturally going there
>>24602839

It's a very low-maintenance pet for the most part but if you choose not to declaw your cat you will need to spend on scratching posts or not mind them scratching furniture.

Best cat passing thru (mine)
pros
cats are cute
cats are fun to pet
cats are good support for co-dependents
baby cats love to play adult cats are more laid back and like to sleep
cons
cats can live pretty long but eventually will die
cats litter is nasty and they can have furballs
cat food / litter is expensive and a hassle
cats can get fleas outside and its horrible
cats sometimes have to go to the vet
being an owner of an animal is a hard job imo. I have an older cat (20) and I love her but I dont think I will own another animal.
I grew up with cats and I'm too lazy to have a dog so cats are pretty much the best option. The worst part of cat ownership is scooping kitty poop and cleaning up barf and hairballs on occasion but if you only have one or two cats that's really no big deal. Depends on what kind of cats they are but most short haired ones are low maintenance as fuck. Some cats act like dogs and some are super chill, that's why if you adopt one you should consider getting an adult so you can find one with the personality you're looking for.
Pic related: an old picture of my cat. I hope I helped you OP
>>24603013
Best cat maybe. But not best picture of a cat.
cats have the most freedom of all the other pets, you let them out, they take care of themselves and do whatever

from my experience of fostering a cat for the local humane society
if you get a cat you have to get them in 2s, because kitties get lonely

Yeah, I said that too when my 24 year old cat died. But I fell into a deep depression and realized I cannot function without a cat.

>>24603096
>see posters around neighbourhood about "missing cat"
>mfw
>the cat isn't missing it knows exactly where its former prison is and where it wants to be
I love my cat, that said I have an easymode cat. He is male but desexed very young, short hair and great temperament, always indoors too.
Male cats are more loyal, and if desexed they won't piss on things, provided they aren't around other pissy cats. Short hair means less likelihood of puking and also less fur everywhere. Indoors means less dead cat and better behaviour too.
Also, use crystal cat litter, it smells so much less which also encourages them not to piss and shit elsewhere. Cats are clean animals and outside of health and serious behaviour issues they won't shit outside of the designated shit space unless the designated shit space is too disgusting for them.
Also, the way they will sort of follow you around but won't get all up in your grill is adorable and makes me feel so loved.
