Dog brought me back from the edge when I was in withdrawal for 9 months. Without her I would have been alone all the time, and probably killed myself. She curled up in my lap during the worst of my symptoms and started licking my face, they can tell when you are in pain. A dog is a better companion than any human being.

It depends. Some people get really emotionally attached to dogs but that's pretty retarded.
I like the dominating a beast aspect of it. I walk my two dogs who are strong as fuck and intimidating and I feel like I'm fucking alpha.

Absolutely, but it also depends on the breed of dog that you have and how old they are.
Lapdogs are the absolute fucking worst. Not only are they completely useless as guard dogs & self defense, but they also fail at being nice family-friendly dogs. They'll just sit on one lap, usually the mother or grandma of the house, and then growl at/attack anyone who gets too close to them when they're sleeping on the couch or chewing on a toy or bone or anything else really.
Gold Retrievers are the best dog breed. Smart, loyal, affectionate, big, relaxed, completely not aggressive at all but will still defend their familia if they have to, from anything to bears and mountain lions and other people.

Standard poodles (the largest kind) are bro-tier dogs. She's pretty laid back and is a million times more enjoyable to have around than any of the shitty smaller breeds that bark at everything.
