As someone with two law majors, let me give you some advice. Learn from my mistakes and NETWORK.
Your university will probably organize shit like meetings with people in certain economic firms, trips to important financial locations, guest speakers from banks etc. etc.
ATTEND ALL OF THEM.
SPEAK TO PEOPLE IN THE BUSINESS.
GET THEIR CONTACT INFO.
ASK FOR INTERNSHIPS. IT DOESN'T MATTER IF THEY'RE SHIT. IT DOESN'T MATTER IF THE SALARY IS SHIT. EVEN IF IT IS ONLY ONE HOUR A WEEK.
In this economy you're not going to make bank by just waving around your degree. You need to know people and you need to have experience. Meet people NOW so you can have a good job later.
Please, for your sake, listen to me. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain. Just get to know the right people and stay in touch with them until after graduation. Even if they themselves don't have a job for you, they might know someone else who does.

Anyway, South East Asia is English crazy right now, if you have the right credentials you can get a job basically wherever you want. Also I can't speak for other Asian countries but in Vietnam being a teacher is one of the most respected professions, the same way being a doctor is respected in Western countries. So everyone treats you with way to much respect because they appriciate you leaving your family and country to teach English in their country. They feel like you are doing their country a great service. Once again this is only for Vietnam, it might be different in other Asian countries.

At junior level and shit they start doing proofs and more computational/high level stuff I think. I did the "practical" math as an Engineer (Calc III, DifEq, I probably have to do some more multivariable stuff). Math majors do tons of proof and logic classes, and these days do math programming for simulations or data analysis or something.

This anon speaks..er, SHOUTS, the truth. *Who* you know is more important than *what* you know.
At the moment, it's an employers market. Finding qualified, even over-qualified people, to fill any position is easy. So that's a given. It's now about finding people who will "fit into the corporate culture". So, they rely upon their co-workers, their frat bros and sorority sisters, people they golf with, etc., for referrals. And, yeah, a decent intern will definitely be considered for future employment.
Here's the thing: 99% of decent jobs never get advertised. They're filled loooong before HR finds out there's a need. HR just gets told, "we're bringing on this guy, get his paperwork set up".
Very few decent jobs get offered on job boards or somewhere else. If a job gets posted, it's because someone doesn't have the connections to get a decent person in, or (most likely), it's a shit place to work. Don't worry, you won't stand a chance of working in that shit place, because they'll lose your resume amidst the 26,000 over-qualified applicants that apply.
You need an in, and you can't be proud about it. Doesn't matter if it's your frat bro, your Dad's friend, some guy your sister dated, whatever...if you get an in, take it. Everyone else out there in any half-decent job got in because of connections.
Just make sure you can back up what you do. Get in once because of someone else's connection, and then show you know your stuff, and you're golden. Get in, and then be an incompetent jerk, and not only does it reflect badly on you, but them, too.
Meet people. Hell, if you want to get really creepy about it, research your potential bosses at companies you want to work at. Find out where they volunteer, what sports they play, Greek affiliations, clubs, etc., then do the same.

The degree is not worthless in the conventional sense: you can charge more for lessons and make more per hour playing/accompanying. It's like going to trade school.
People say it's worthless bc you can't flash it and be given a job, you actually have to be a skilled musician. Doesn't matter if you have a doctorate in music if you cannot improvise and sightread on piano at a high level.
Even if the major is flooded with Chads, the degree still holds value to me because of how much I learned and developed while earning it.
