It's extremely comfy. I take the train their and walk to the aquarium and walk all around the downtown. If you live in the suburbs its really a great thing to do.
Ice skating too, and theres a while bunch of parks and a huge library right there. I go hang out in hotel lobbies and walk pretty far south and nobody ever bothered me once.

I'm in the Chicago area (near O'Hare). The seasonal changes are great but the sheer amount of people here does wear down on you, especially if you are driving. The public transportation has some good and bad aspects to it: some of the train lines are 24 hours a day - cool; the lines are very centralized - annoying. There's always something to do yet the city does "sleep" at night.

Like any city ever in the history of existence, the crime can be avoided by moving to the correct parts of the city. Downtown, the Gold Coast, virtually anything near the lake is pretty good crime wise. The crime is mostly confined to specific neighborhoods.
