OP, condolences, but this.
This is my fourth Thanksgiving without either of my parents. It wasn't so bad when it was just my dad, but after my mom died it became unbearable.
I wish I could tell you that it gets better. But it doesn't ever really stop hurting. You just stop thinking about it day to day, and then a holiday or something will come up and it will hit you just as hard as it did the first time.

My dad has been dead for 15 years. It never goes away but it bothers you less and less as time goes on. Remember family isn't always blood. Surround yourself with good people.
