Muh games
I would use it in dual boot if I could manage my HD space better but it's such a chore
>>24536822
Muh vidya
>>24536835
This. I would do this since Linux is so much more accessible and tbqh looks better than Windows does, but I need my shitty anime games and I'm too lazy to dual boot
>>24536822
>he doesn't use a POSIX compliant os
>>24536875
GNU/Linux is POSIX compliant. Just not certified.
Mac OS is a joke if you want to use it for the Unix anyway. It's got terrible design flaws, and the Unix base hasn't been maintained properly in years.
The only reason they use a Unix base is because their own programmers can't make anything not shit.

Buy a console which will last a good 5-10 years. You won't really care about muh graphics when you adapt. PC gaming is expensive.
Would try Gentoo soon.

Seriously, it's Wine++. It supports Steam for sure, and it'll probably work with whatever shitty animu games you've got.

Because we can.
Sometimes it's for functionality.

Normie here. I've been using Slackware for some four years by now, after Ubuntu put me off by freezing. It's been perfectly stable and while I will never understand Linux properly, I think the distribution would allow me to do that if I were smart enough. And I have always managed to configure whatever feature I needed. That I don't play anymore (and on the very rare occasion I do, it's Wine-runnable oldies) helps.

What games though? Same here with those two, but I'm just playing a lot of melee and Mario strikers now and maybe some SotC when I get tired of the other 2
>>24537177
I just got "Destroy All Humans!" for 5$.
It's pretty good.
I only really have pulled out the GameCube on the rare occasion my old classmates get together (and we do melee tournys).

Parabola is Arch but without the non-free stuff.
Arch is pretty good once set up, but takes ages to get it right. It's more stable than Ubuntu or Fedora, lightweight and keeps up to date.
It SHOUDLN'T be your first distro. I first started using it on a VM in my Uni break.
>>24537578
This is mostly untrue, but for people who don't know what they are doing (and dump head first without any knowledge) it is.
>>24537743

Sounds like timewaster OS.

lol
Besides if you want stable use debian.
>>24537800
>Sounds like timewaster OS.
It's a one off though.
I spend a weekend setting up my current install about a year ago. I haven't done much maintenance since then.
My last Windows install took more effort than that.
>use debian
The packages in Arch are much more up-to-date compared to debian, more software is available and it is much less bloated.

Winblows desktop for muh anime/vidya/assorted degeracy, a 'TismPad for Guh-noo and comp-top autism romps.
>>24538662
Try a livecd.
See if you can use it for a while.
Maybe do a VM if you want some persistance.
Eventually, when you are confident try and install it.
Once that doesn't work, try it again later.
