>tfw too dumb to pass calc fucking 1
>tfw no impact on GPA because...just leaves a Fucking F on my transcript...
what other majors can I do that make decent money like computer engineering?its better to switch now than later...
h-help

also i guess /uni/ feels thread
>>
>Started uni in 09
>transferred schools after A.A
>neet it up in between those 6 years a few semesters
>get kicked out of my major because failed cal 1 three times
>dropped out
>now even more directionless

If your gonna make a change, do it now anon.
>>
>>24536696
I guess so but thats where I'm stuck..im on my first semester and i have a chance to retake in the summer with a different teacher but still I'm cautious.. JUST

also sorry about your situation anon
>>
i guess all the uni folks are asleep....
>>
School is such a terrible place to be when you're depressed. Part of the application process should be a mental health screening.
>>
>>24536785
Well, I would ask why you failed first.
Do you have a weak foundation for math?
Sad and depressed?
Lazy piece of shit who doesn't want to sit down and learn the material?
How motivated are you to pass this class.

>also sorry about your situation anon
Don't be. It was my fault. I just wish I had a dream to pursue so I can motivated myself.

Good luck anon.
>>
>>24536975
This a million fucking times
The schools know it too
They'd rather take your money though
>>
>>24536665
>doing shitty in mechanics of materials
> mechanical engineering student
>>
>>24536990
probably my foundation for math, or maybe how these shitty tests for this class are. Literally only 12 questions on my latest exam. miss one, down to a damn 90% already. And its not like a long problem, and no partial credit either even though i set up the limit correctly but got a wrong final answer...gonna buy some rope tomorrow :)
>>

what year family?
>>
>>24536665
>Pick easy lib arts major
>4.0 GPA
>Study ass off for LSAT
>Do well
>Top law[l] school
>$160K starting at big firm

Seriously. It's what I did, and you'll make 6 figures anywhere you go ($160K being the market rate for first year associates in major cities like NYC, Chicago, LA, etc). The debt and time sink are real, but if you prep right from the start of undergrad you are all but guaranteed a high paying job. Law is only over-saturated because of idiots who pursue it despite shit grades and LSAT scores
>>
>>24537198
3rd , taking a semester off for a co op, so scared senpai
>>
>>24537018
This desu. I'm really worried I might be suspended for a year. Hopefully, I'll be able to scrape by though.
>>
>>24537018
It's a real shame. With all the money it costs, people like us essentially ruin our lives by attending. I know my life is.
>>
>>24537232
I wish I could but money is already tight as it is. I'm just looking for a run of the mill degree and straight to at least $60k per year. I'm thinking IT or something similar that field. or maybe radiologist tech
>>
>sophomore math major, enjoying the hell out of it
>know I need to double major with something applied, go for econ because mathematical economic models seem extremely interesting
>getting absolutely booty blasted in principles of microeconomics
>thought it would be more mathy, turns out it's a typical intro level class that's just learning definitions and looking at curves on graphs
>the most boring thing I've ever done
>no motivation, never go to class, missed several hw assignments, fucked up on tests because of it
Just hoping to pass with a C at this point, do a little better in principles of macro, then get to the intermediate classes and actually use at least some basic calculus.
>>
gimme dat ole lickaroo
>>
>>24537412
If it makes you feel better, I took two similar classes and thought macro was much easier.
>>
>tfw doing highschool math as a mid 20s adult

I should have done it in highschool, but it is so comfy and easy now.
>>
what major are you niggas doing? should i fall for the engineering maymay?
>>
>>24538008
I'm >>24537412 so I'm doing math now, but I started in Mechanical Engineering because I didn't know exactly what I wanted to do but knew I wanted it to be STEM related. If you're really interested in engineering work, then go for it. Note that I don't mean you want to "build things" because most engineers don't actually build anything themselves. If you haven't already, then research what different types of engineers (mechanical, electrical, civil, chemical, etc.) actually do on a daily basis and see if that seems appealing to you. The reason so many people drop out of engineering isn't really because the coursework is too hard, it's that they're probably taking more credits per semester than most people and/or they're only doing the major to make money in the future and thus have no interest in learning what they're doing, and it's a lot harder to do well in a class you don't give a shit about but actually have to do work for.

But, if you've looked into that stuff already and feel like you really want to do it then you're probably in for a rewarding and lucrative career.

Im doing trade school, going to be a automotive mechanic. I'd have a good chance of finding a job and I enjoy stuff like that.

Good luck guys.
>>
>tfw went straight from school to uni and became an Engineer and now work so I can't relate to these feels

I-I'm still a robot, right guys? I'm still a manlet virgin
>>
calculus will be the death of me desu senpai
>>
>>24538008
I went from electronic engineering to compsci because like OP, I couldn't into math. Thing is I think the math in but majors is pretty similar but I just understood it the second time around.

The job market is bretty good for most engineering and compsci disciplines. You can't go wrong if you have the brains to do either desu senpai.
>>
OP I know that feel.
>last semester
>computer engineering major
>good at programming
>horrible at calc
>was going to fail
>dropped calc
>switched major to information systems technology
Only requires basic math classes. Much less stressful. Won't make as much money as engineering, but there's good jobs in IT field
>>
>>24538008
Only if you're actually interested in it. I too bought into the meme and hated it. The only part I liked was the math. I've since changed my major to something I hate even more. This will likely be my last semester.
>>
>>24538468
I'm op,I think you are me.99% match.
>>
>>24536665
How the fuck are people actually failing calc 1, why would you even pick a course related to maths if you were academically impaired
>>
>>24538665
Because I fell for the engineering meme, anon
>>
>>24536975
This senpai. I was chronically depressed my whole life, so I failed school my whole life.

I finally started to pass classes and get A's once the depression naturally weakened in my 30's.
>>
If you're failing calc 1, I guarantee you it's because you didn't try hard enough. Classes like that and organic chemistry take all nighters and a couple hours a day to master, but when you get high grades on your exams it'll be worth it. Don't give up guys, working hard for a little while is a lot better than being disappointed and having to go into a career you picked as back up
>>
just a question, do you actually listen and study and do practice problems? i used to have a really hard time with maths but in linear i started actually giving a shit because i realized how relevant it was to my major and it turned out to just be a really grind-y process of doing things until i knew them backwards forwards and inside out

if you're failing because of laziness that can change, if you can honestly tell youself that you're trying your hardest and studying and you still don't understand, ask for help from others/forums or get a new major, if needed.

btw if you wanna do easy-ish computer stuff look into IT
>>
>>24538468
>tfw good at math but bad at programming
what the fuck do mathematicians even do for work. i dont think sticking with cs is the right choice for me
>>
>>24538725
>I finally started to pass classes and get A's once the depression naturally weakened in my 30's.
Damn, I'm glad to hear everything's been working out for me, but I just hope it doesn't take that long for the same to happen to me.
>>
>>24538665
Only a noose waits for me.probably will retake in summer as final try
>>
It's currently 6.35 am in my country, I have calculus test at 8 am, instead of studying I'm shit posting here. Thanks to God I do amazing in calculus.
>>
>>24537352
They should take their payment only AFTER you qualify for a degree on a standartized third-party test. That would be real free market.
Or go the other route and make education free.

What you have now is the worst of socialism and capitalism: for-profit education without any guarantees.

Why do Americans have to do Mathematics, a language, and Science regardless of the subject they're there to learn?

I studied History at university in Britain and did have to take any classes that weren't history - I took archaeology and Latin modules as optional extras but I didn't have to take calculus or Spanish or any shit like that.
>>
>>24538370
>Im doing trade school, going to be a automotive mechanic.

Are you too dumb for college?
>>
>>24536975
>mental health screening after middle and high school
>cull the mentally deficient

Make it happen, bots
>>
>>24536665
There other technical degree that only require calculus and statistics.

What did you get in pre-calculus anyway?
>>
>>24536665
fuck calculus. pretty sure i failed it too.
>>
>>24540722
But you can take classes out of your major for the first 60 credits. Usually BA programs allow that.
>>
>tfw really wanted to be pharmacist
>Zoloft fried my brain
>don't want to do anything anymore
>don't go to class
>maintain good enough grades to keep the studybux flowing
>can only keep this charade up for a little longer without flunking out

I'm thinking of just killing myself.
Or I'll drop out and go to school and be an EMT.
It's a dope job, school is only 2 years, and starting salary is like $75k.
If that fails, maybe I'll be an electrician.
I'llprobably just kill myself first tho
