Nice to see another After Forever/Epica fan... was just learning Epica's "Mother of Light" today on my 7-string guitar... Simone isn't great live but is awesome on the records and has a unique voice, and Epica's songwriting as a whole make up for any of the member's individual shortcomings. Floor on the other hand is great live and on the records. I can agree that a lot of female-fronted bands have subpar lyrics (a lot of Delain's music is decent but the lyrics are lousy for all but a few songs and that's not even getting into more mainstream artists) but Epica and After Forever are (and were) excellent. Too bad there are no bands like them in the US (where anything slightly gothic goes full emo).
