The fact of having a kid in and of itself would not be an issue. The trouble is kids don't just pop out of thin air. A kid is the outcome of a certain chain of decisions. A woman that followed a chain of decisions that led to single motherhood is likely not to be relationship material -- but, of course, there are exceptions.
