If you lived in China your parents would have sent you to internet addiction boot camp by now

Everything is relative isnt it?
That sucks though, youd think in a nation of 1.3 billion you could blend in easily.

Internet addiction is merely a symptom of a greater problem.

My parents did send me to do my mandatory military service even though I protested over and over. End result, I didn't eat anything for a couple of weeks, lost 20lbs, got a panic attack and kicked out of the army after getting diagnosed with GAD. A few months later mum tricked me into going to an "internet addiction" center, the shrink there was a huge bitch with control issues, and the therapist wasn't that great either. Not that surprising desu, belief in "internet addiction" is semi-religious and full-on unscientific.

Maybe. But perhaps it would be better to look at what causes people to get addicted to the internet.
In the case of China, the ridiculous male:female ratio is a strong cause. Along with other economic and social problems.
We're all resorrting to escapism more and more because we simply aren't needed. Or wanted.
