Is a making a living from the sea a good choice of career for a robot? I mean the days or weeks out at sea would be great because I am lonely as hell anyhow and would only have to interact with a few other people.
Is there anyone here who has experience with being a fisherman or Merchant Mariner?

No money in it and it'll work you to the bone.

If you can get through the schooling, sure.
You can't just "stow aboard" anymore.
Not as simple as it sounds OP.
just breed exotic animals like birds or lizard and smoke the most powerful marijuana you can purchase as often as possible as you beat off to pictures of anime

For a stoic workaholic sure. For a lazy weak NEET not so much. There is also no internet at sea.
That said I entirely recommend it. I'm always reminded of Firefly, Star Wars and WoW when I'm at sea.
I find a long watch feels like when you've been lost in long grind in an MMO long since practically forgetting there's other people in the game except once or twice when a character flies by or talks on teamchat.
Just other boats and radio chatter.
It's hard work but satisfying and it's the sort of right of passage adventure that modern men sorely need.

I'm actually a traditional sailor working on tallships or I was anyway.
