Met my gf in class. We worked together on a few projects, I sort of just chatted with her and she seemed friendly/ laughed at my jokes. One day I asked here if she wanted to get coffee or something, and kept things casual. It takes time, but school and work places are much better than a random public space where people have nothing to do with one another in the first place. it's easier if you already have a student to student or co-worker connection because then it's not weird if you decide to talk to them.
