How do you deal with depression? I shut myself off, I'll just lock myself in my room and not come out for 3 or 4 days. Drugs. Sucks man. I need a new coping mechanism. I'm single and a dad, i live with my parents and that helps.

I try to find a few minutes to myself and cry violently then try to go back to what I was doing. On bad days I can get 2 or 3 crying sessions in which allows me to keep up my facade. For some reason when i'm feeling really depressed I find it critically important that nobody finds out - the prospect of having to talk to someone about how I feel is less scary than just killing myself.

Thing is, I'm an atheist. 12 step programs, the free or low cost, don't really help. I don't have the money to pay for any other type of program.

Im an atheist too, I'm a h-ron addict and the God thing about the 12 step programs is really annoying to be sure. But if you can get past that it becomes a good way to meet people and a community and all that jazz

The only people who know about my depression are my parents because they have the money to buy my meds.
A lot of times i try not to cry in public afraid that people will do something and find out.
Writing and photography. Well overdue a stint on both due to work bullshit but I honestly find writing and taking pictures really cathartic. It's like I made the thing out of pretty much nothing and... It's mine.
Apparently people who have seen my stuff like it. Still think they're just being polite, mind.
