Also, what the other guys have said, even if you bag your citizenship and everything you'll still be viewed as a foreigner. Same in my country, tons of immigrants and refugees of different races and many might be 2nd or 3rd gen, born and raised here, they're still not considered natives.

I can somehow relate to your feels.
I like comics and I like japanese culture but the 2 things are really seperated for me (I mostly read european and sometimes US comics).
It's just annoying how people always assume that I'm into Japan just because of muh chinese cartoons. I don't think I've even seen an anime in 2015.
It seems to be happening only for Japan, which is weird. I also like Indian culture but nobody assumes that I just like bollywood movies.
