Convince me to stop wasting money on lottery tickets. All attempts have failed because it feel like it is literally the only way to have complete financial freedom and abundance. Otherwise I don't see any other way out of being a poor NEET or wageslave, its pretty much the only financial aspiration with striving for- when I hopefully soon do get a job, it will just mean more money to gamble on lottery and pay for things my parent enabler won't or can't.

Buy em, but limit it to a consistent amount that fits into a larger budget. The hope is clearly worth something to you, but the math should be pretty easy to know how unilkely it is. You can do it senpai

For this past Powerball draw I ened up spending like $16. What happened was I had my usual $6 for 3 entries, then if I made an impulse purchase of something else, like ice cream, which I don't really need, I matched it by going and buying more lottery tickets, in order to rationalize doing both, and feel better about myself.

Also, what do you think about the pick 5 games? It seems to be the best odds for money that can still make a difference in life, ranges from $60k-$500k, but rarely goes higher because the odds are 1 in 575757 to win the jackpot, so often there are winners every day, and as many as 5 winners a day.

Honestly, I feel like all of the big win lottery tickets have low enough odds that it's impractical to buy up to boost your odds. I buy one ticket maximum any given month and only if I feel like it. I can't really judge you though, hope you win at some point.

Say there was a lottery in which one ticket cost every penny you owned. Winning this lottery is 50/50. If you lose, you lose everything, and probably die in a gutter. If you win, you get 100x what you paid in return.

Is this a rational bet?
>>
>>24442657

depends on how much you have. If what you have wouldn't take long to earn back and is completely inadequate, go for it. If what you have is worth something to you, then no.

I would do it at my current stage of life, young enough that I would make it back in 3-4 years
>>
>>24442638
I will challenge you and say that if you buy 2 or 3 tickets instead of 1 per draw you play, you at least have a substantially better change of winning your money back. Small wins of 1-3 numbers matched get me $1-$18 back, depending which game, what the prizes are on that draw, and if I matched the Powerball/mega #

>one ticket cost every penny you owned
I'm gonna be a smart ass and say sure, I'll bet literally every physical penny currently in my posession, heck, I'll bet all the physical currency I have on hand.

Butt seriously, no. Good thing about lottery is that is still low risk, as long as I don't go full retard. I actually did go full retard once with scratchers, which is why I don't play them anymore, and would never go to a casino where I can literally lose all my money in a matter of minutes.
>>
>>24442711

You're not wrong, but the overall drifr of things is still against your favor. The house always wins, you can only hope to be the winner among the multitude of losers or one of the losers who kept their losses moderate and had some fun along the way.
>>
>>24442766

Casinos are fun but they're fucking dangerous too. I always go in with the amount of cash I plan on spending and leave the ATM card at home.
>>
>>24442269
you're wasting tendie funds, faggot.
quit your gambling addiction and get some ambition so you can actually MAKE money instead of pissing it away on hope
at this rate you might as well exchange all your ticket money for pennies and dump them into a wishing well. equally effective.
my dad is a numbers freak and has been doing the lottery for years, (yes there's a science to it) and he hasn't even broke even.

More robots should play the lottery. Waiting for the numbers to be drawn would give them a reason to live.

It's Heaven's Will Anon. If it wishes you to win the lottery, you will win with just 1 ticket per month. If not, you are currently wasting your time and money. Heaven's Will exists, it's real and you will perish if you go against it.

>MAKE money
Doing what? In order to "make" money someone has to agree to pay me for my time or labor, to gamble I just do it.

>>24443355
also this, in which I argue makes it all worth it, though I still would ideally tone it down and stick to $15/week or so

Winning $1m would be like winning 30 years of minimum wage kekery, and that's just first world poorfags.

I wonder how many Asian workers entire lives $1m could buy?

Anyway I've been saying this for a few years now, but if I won around $1m in the lottery I'd be set for life. I don't need to explain any more than I'm simply not retarded. But ultimately it's better to not wish for something like that to happen, because it's overwhelmingly likely you're going to be constantly disappointed.

>>24442269
Anon, buy a pick 2 for 10 plays with 20$(mega millions). You get the satisfaction of having a dream for 1 month, and it costs you a lot less then being stupid on a daily basis.

>tfw won the family lottery and will inherit close to $10M from a trust fund when I graduate college next month

I'd like to take a moment to thank my fuck up siblings for being such pieces of shit that I somehow ended up looking like the best grandchild who was most deserving of inheriting 95% of what grandma and grandpa left behind. Thanks for getting addicted to drugs, brother, and thanks for becoming a mom at 17, sister. Feels fucking good being the favorite grandchild and knowing I will never have to wageslave a day in my life.

OP here, see this? How can I not just say fuck it, bet my life on winning the lottery or bust.

Well, there isn't much point in living if you're not rich nowadays, or at least have some sort of a passive income so you're not forced to work.
>>
>>24442269
Just don't play powerball anymore

last month they cut your odds of winning the jackpot IN HALF, and it was already floating next to zero...
>>
>>24442711
You're so fucking dumb desu
You can buy 5 every day for the rest of your life if you want to
Odds are you will still never win

so therefore despite the stats, lottery gambling is worth it if its my only point in living?

>>24446009
Those were my initial thoughts, yet people still kept winning, and the odds of winning $4-8 back increased a little, so fuck it, I keep playing. And like I say, its really my only option to not be poor for the rest of my life.

>>24446031
>You're so fucking dumb desu
If you spend $4-$8 per draw which is 2-4 powerball entries, you have better odds of winning back your $4-8 spend now that Powerballs were reduced from 35 to 26, even though JACKPOT odds increased. Therefore, in the big picture, although there is realistically no increase in winning the jackpot the more tickets bought, there is a real and significant increase in the chance that I win small amounts the more I spend per draw.

Regardless, lottery is literally my only hope in life for complete financial liberation. Me winning the lottery is something that simply must happen, there is no other sustainable long term option that doesn't involve being poor for the rest of my life.

I also have been buying a single fantasy 5 ticket for each day, and spending only $1 on each mega millions because it was recently reset after someone won.

>Spent around $20 total on lottery yesterday.
>Won absolutely nothing

>>24442269

People win it all the fucking time never stop trying m8

Lottery never appealed to me, but that's not to say I'm no addict. My vice is booze, but if it wasn't booze it would be other drugs. Been hooked on a few things in my life, settled on booze strictly because it's easy to get and cheap in murica.
