Engineer. It was good at first but I've been put on a ridiculously hard project that's going nowhere while my bosses listen to none of my advice on where to take it.
I made a bad decision by showing interest in one thing we do to try and look enthusiastic and now I'm "the guy" who does it whenever it comes up and has to improve it. Fucked myself over tbqh, the other new guys have been cross trained in all our other stuff and I just do one thing.
Whenever I tell my boss I wanna do something else he acts like he's done me a favour giving me some hard project so I can "prove myself" while the other new people are put on easy projects with high rewards. I always told him I wanted to be involved in those projects but he's given them to all the other people.
I don't know whether he put me on it because he thinks I'm capable or he's trying to get me to leave. All the people who've done my stuff before were the autist oddballs of the group so I've got a feeling that's what he thinks of me. He was one of those people who did nothing but development when he was my level so he might see something of himself in me, or just hate me.
So I sit around day in day out doing the same experiments going nowhere and having awkward meetings where we try and decipher the results with no clear direction. This has gone on for months now and it's really starting to get up my nose.

I probably wouldn't mind too much either but we get to travel with work which I really like. I think all the other projects are going to have a lot of travel associated with them in the future, which also means big money.

There's some good trips coming up I hope I get to be involved with, if my boss chooses all the new people to go places instead of me I'll be fucking furious, all the stuff I've been sent on so far has been a massive pain in the ass. That might be the point I start looking for something else.

Also, it is just an average, but still. Oil / gas / energy and defence / marine / aerospace are looking good.
