Well, /r9k/?
Can you solve it? What is the answer?
>>24391707
d) 19
>>24391707
The answer is nineteen, or, option d.
>>24391707
I don't even see how this one would be tricky.
Dude it's obviously c)
>Exponents first
2^3 is 8
>multiplication second
8 x 1 is 8
>addition
3 + 8 is 11, plus 8 is 19
next pls
I think the answer is a)
But i can't remember my math well
>>24391744
It's just order of operations bait. Eventually someone will say that it's actually 3 + 2^3 * (1 + 8) or (3 + 2)^3 * 1 + 8.
here's a new one since OP's was too easythese threads are always shitsame goes with monty hall threads, .999=1 threads, etc.

This isn't even one of those problems people disagree on.
>>24392034
fuck how do i make it more challenging
I couldn't think of something simple yet tricky, i think i wrote it wrong
>>24391973
White, I can see it in your smile
>>24392058
You have to use "/" instead of an actual division symbol. That's what gets people. Some people see it as "everything after / is in the denominator" and other people see it as a division symbol. It causes disagreement because / isn't an actual symbol in mathematics. It's shorthand left open to interpretation.
>>24392215
Darn it, I'll do that next time
>tfw you're so stupid you can't even make a bait thread properly
>>24392215
a fraction is just an abstraction of division, use of a "/" in math is as a fractional divisor.
2+2/4-5
with no use of brackets, that is 2 + 0.5 - 5
anything else is wrong.
>>24392358
There's my point. "/" isn't an actual symbol. You see it as ":" or whatever you Amerifats use for division. Some people see it as
2+2
-----
4-5
Both are understandable considering "/" doesn't actually mean anything. I tend to agree with you that if anything, it should mean a standard division symbol.
