Would grills find it cute that their bf wants to read to them? Or would they find it condescending? It's just an urge I have.

Yes. I made a thread on /lit/ about no bf to read me books.

Only if it's good though. Are you into classics and /lit/?

>What kinds of books would you read?
I'm not sure desu. There are just some books that feel like they should be spoken out loud.

>>24375513
Yeah, I like classical stuff. I guess Apuleius would be a good light-hearted classic to read a grill.
>>
>>24375401

I love being read to. I enjoy audiobooks and podcasts more than reading books. If a boyfriend did this for me I'd be in love.
>>
>>24375561
I imagine that a relaxing sort of book would be perfect, not something really actioney or narrative-oriented
just to relax and enjoy a picture being painted by the reader
>>
I wouldn't be keen on him reading to me, unless he does it better than I do. Because it would be very condescending.

But if he reads to our future children, that's adorable.

sure it's okay. i prefer reading by myself but getting read to sounds fine too. wouldn't it depend on his voice and how well he can speak too?

I read parts of the bible to my chinese gf. I know shes an atheist but she feels like she's learning my culture. She even tries to fit in with it. After I taught her what grace was before a meal, she put her hands together and said "bless you" to the food. Cute af

I used to do it with my ex, she liked it. Then we would go to bed and cuddle together.

R u a grill or a gay? How should I go about asking my gf if she wants me to read to her? Im afraid of looking like a sperg

Grill

If you're really that nervous about it, you're probably still at the point in the relationship where you're still trying to impress each other all the time. The more confident you are in the relationship, the more you can relax and communicate without barriers.

I would just say something like, "I always liked reading out loud in school. I miss that. I know this sounds weird, but can I read to you for a little bit?"

Where do we find girls like you?
>>
>>24375401
I had a girl I would read Grimm's to every night over the phone. She loved it. It helps if you're good at reading aloud, a lot of people never practiced so they lack the skill. It just depends on the girl and the relationship to be honest. She was my little angel and I protected her so it made sense, but my current gf takes care of me so I'm less certain it would be something she'd like.

>Finally get a gf
>She wants me to read to her
>Say yea sure
>All my books are military or medieval history
>Sit there reading her exerts of Storm of Steel

She then gets pissy and complains about my taste in books and that I have nothing "romantic"

what the fuck is wrong with women
>>

Why did you give me this feel. Maybe I'll convince my gf to read to me...

>then sir artorias head knight of the imperial german empire made a chain of flowers and gave it to joe thanking him for the brocake he made
>>
I dated one girl who loved it, I would read her lots of different stuff but she liked middle ages poetry and beat generation stuff. Current GF absolutely hates when I try to read to her. Both are avid readers though
>>
>>24375401
I used to read the classics to my high school gf. Was nice to feel someone snuggle up to me and hang on every word i said. Also it kinda helped me comprehend the books better when i read them aloud
>>
>>24375401
>tfw no loli gf to read to
>>
Honest question here, who actually had their parents read to them before going to sleep? Every time I see this happen on tv or movies, I would wonder if people actually did that.
>>
>>24380319
When I was very young they did. They also made up stories, which were always shitty but I liked them better due to the creativity involved.

>tfw I wish I could read to other people but I have a horribly monotone voice and I sound like shit when I read
>>
>>24380319
I've read to my younger siblings on numerous occasions, so some families still do that stuff. Dunno about parents, i dont think mine can read so good
>>
>>24375401
> tfw read aloud to myself everyday
> think i had a stroke and that this is helping me recuperate
> like seriously, i'm brain damaged as fuck
> reading aloud makes me feel like my brain kinda switches on for a little while
> like a whole hour after reading aloud i feel almost normal
> i record myself doing it
> never watch/listen to the recordings though
> not going anywhere with this greentext really
> don't take more abilify then you're supposed to
>>
>>24380366
I remember my older brother would summarize or describe to me the book he would read before going to sleep. I read a lot of books because of this.
>>
>>24375401
I would love that so much op! especially before bedtime
>>
>>24380459
Sounds nice anon. I'm the eldest so no one ever read to me in my house. I kinda wished someone would, but i'm a burly man now, so lol 2late4me
