I don't live on my own anymore, unfortunately. I'm the guy that moved into a bungalow with a family friend to split the rent last month. The rice cooker was only 20, since it was half price and I got more than that from my family refusing to not give me things for my birthday. It doesn't even scratch what remains of my savings.
I don't have a job, but I do odd jobs around my village for money while I look for one. The petrol station near where I am is quite helpful and lets me work the till and stock their shelves for a little money whenever I feel like it. I used to volunteer when I had no W/E, and the council helped set me up teaching IT to older folk at the library.

this is just a myth, there are not "obscure jobs" just waiting to be snatched up because everyone else has the same idea and gets those jobs first. The only volunteering jobs that always have openings are the shitty borderline torture ones that need to be done by someone but nobody likes to do. I'm not knocking those jobs or the people who do them.
