There's more to a car than the exterior. This thing called handling, security and power for example. I agree its absolutely pointless for most people who will never peek under the hood unless it breaks fown, but for petrolheads it makes sense. If I could I'd get a corvette zr1 or noble m600 asap.

Spending $20,000 on a car isn't so bad if you own it, but personally I wouldn't pay more than $10,000.

Porsches are way more fun to drive than Volvos.
They accelerate better, they turn better, they even sound better. It's like a night and day difference. You should seriously learn to drive stick and give it a shot. It's like having a personal roller coaster.
Even if you can't afford a Porsche, a $10,000 BMW Z3 will handle better than whatever brand new $16,000 econobox you can muster up.
