I used to get this from coworkers, pissed me off, normies know full well what they're doing. Sort of slightly snapped one day at this after continuously getting it for days.

Took a course in college (forget the exact name), then I took a bunch of cert courses for various programming languages and such. After that I worked out of a repair shop for a while and fixed stuff out of my apartment. Old boss put in a good word for me at the place where I am now.

Cisco and Microsoft seem to be big ones to have. If you have a relative in the field, talk to them about it. I talked to my aunt's brother-in-law about it at a Christmas dinner because he does the same thing and he pointed me in the right direction. Money's pretty decent, too. I can hit 6 digits on a good year.
