Newgrounds ran its course and nothing stepped up afterwards, the "new age" animators come from youtube, the indie games all come from steam.

Dilbert 3 came out and everyone realized nothing they could do in a million years would ever come close to it so everyone gave up.

Flash is shit, that's what happened.
It's 2015, I can download real games any time I want. I have every SNES RPG I ever wanted to play on my phone. My laptop can play like 90% of PS2 games and it's not even that good a laptop.
Who needs to play some flash skiing game or flash street fighter with 3 moves. I can play Chrono Trigger on my phone or SF3: Third Strike on my laptop.

I think it's this pretty much. With phones you have all the free games you want so flash games are dead. I've even noticed that the few new games that come out will end up having a mobile version and be monetized in some way. It's sad really.
