I feel I deserved the ban really, it was fair.
I used to get banned on r9k once a week. A few of them were quite baseless on the part of the mod.
But, I shitpost a lot, so any ban I get is probably deserved.

/sp/ is pretty bad for handing out bans.
I use to get banned a lot for posting Milana and Brie in gamethreads, and yet off topic /pol/ tier shit happens all the time and never gets deleted.

The key to not getting banned is pretty much to try and keep your shitposting vaguely on topic
I get banned the most on /r9k/ because this board has terrible moderation that want to shape the board culture into their own vision of what it should be, it's pretty bad actually.
Been using 4chan for nine years and the only board I ever really get banned on is /r9k/, and I never break any rules. They just don't like gay stuff.
I've been banned from /tv/ and /a/ a few times for similar reasons, but their moderation isn't quite as corrupt as /r9k/'s. I can kindof understand getting banned for zalgoshitposting while dumping on /a/ but for just talking in a gay thread on /r9k/, that's unacceptable and an abuse of moderation.

It's pretty rare that I get banned, but then again, I don't post very often. Still, when I do get banned, I really do feel like it's for bullshit reasons a lot of the time. One of my most recent bans was for avatarfagging, something I NEVER do--I posted a fucking image of Satori and Remilia sitting at a computer (I can't find it so have another cute one instead), and it was in no way expressing any sort of emotion or anything in my post. In fact, it was my only post, it's not like I was posting shitloads of images of the same character. Or, another time, back when there was that stupid image-swap glitch, my image got swapped out for an image from /mlp/, and I got banned for posting ponyshit, even though I made it very clear that was not at all what I intended to post.

One faggot on campus is apparently a brony and he used to get global bans for posting porn on /mlp/ every few weeks. The problem with /pol/ is that it's essentially an echo chamber, I do agree with them in most cases but there is no point trying to argue against anything because you will just be ganged up on. It happens on all boards though, it's just less noticeable when you are on the same page.

How ever once every 6 months or so I check up on /v/ and it just gets worse and worse, the same console war/mustard race shit flinging, the hatred for everything Japanese, last time it was all smash threads and now its all fo4 trash. I very rarely get banned, and if I do get banned, it's a simple mistake. For instance, my most recent ban was for avatarfagging, however I was only using images of the same character as reaction images for a grand total of 2 images in a thread.
It's fine though, I've just resorted to not posting images instead unless it's highly relevant to conversation. I more or less agree that reaction images should be treated as off topic, they're just as bad as unironically using emoticons.
on /tv/ I'd wager about 2/3 threads are offtopic shit threads not really pertaining to movies or /tv/, but whenever I make an off topic thread I'd get a ban. I've been banned for avatarfagging, advertising, posting porn on a clean board, and once for posting illegal content, but that one was revoked early, because I didn't do anything of the sort. All of them were bans across all boards. They were on [s4s], /pol/, /ck/, and /r9k/ respectively. There's probably a few I'm forgetting, but those are the most recent/memorable.

Check http://4chan.org/bans for examples of what is and what isn't allowed, if you have issues determining what should reported under global 6. The page gets updated every hour or so with new entries (not all entries, just a handful every hour to keep the page somewhat active).
