Moved into a residential work course place with about 30 or so other people working here in the same boat as me. Could be here for up to 2 years, but I can go home on the weekend if I want. After being a hermit for a few years, I'm really out of my comfort zone having to be social all the time. I think I'm doing quite well, I've made quite a few "friends" but the truth is I can't relate to these people.
Food, accomodarion, washing, electric etc is included and I get paid 800 a month.
I'm friendly, they're friendly too, but while the group is talking, like after we've finished work and are playing pool, or having a fag, I don't really know about alp the normie shit they talk about. On the off chance something comes up that I do know about, it's fine, but I'm really not used to being around people this much. I think I'm doing a good job though tbqh.

Thank you for the kind words. To be honest with you I might've dramatized the whole "friends" thing. Everyone's actually very genuine and have their own stories as to why they're here, just much unlike my own. I came here to try and get out of the robot cycle, I figured by jumping in the deep end it would somehow force me to adapt. I think it's working somewhat, but I do get incredibly anxious and paranoid at times, I just hide it very well.

To be somewhat of a robot is an extreme circumstance, I figured to counteract that, another extreme circumstance is needed to remedy it. I am by no means the most hopeless robot on this board, I'm not a virgin, I've had 2 girlfriends, but for years, the whole isolation thing, and using the computer to escape reality is what connects all of us on this board, not whether or not we've fucked a vagina. And before you ask, no, getting a girlfriend does not help at all, it's just a distraction. Witcher 3 and DR3 are fun games, Witcher 3 especially will last you a long time.
Depending on how much you feel like sinking virtual money into slowly upgrading cars/weapons you can sink a ton of time into GTA:O, so much so I haven't even finished the main story for GTA:V. I'd pretty strongly recommend that too.
As a longshot, you might find Just Cause 3 fun when that comes out start of next month, might be worth looking into too.

Yeah, did you do no research into what they do to you? You get stuck in problem schools where the kids don't want to learn, and you are wheeled out like some kind of entertainment monkey. You'll never be able to correct the teacher no matter how blatant their error, they are better at English than you despite it being your native tongue. Nobody in my batch that I kept in contact with enjoyed it, we all got out after our year was up.
It's a lottery as to whether you get a place, and then if you're lucky you might get a city placement. If it's an island or rural then you're fucked for the year.
Trouble is they don't really look after you. They set you up with some initial accommodation but if that falls through you're on your own, and it's not up to the standard of living you're used to here (enjoy your no internet). And if you ever need to see a doctor for something serious you may as well just get back on the plane and come home.
It's bizarre, it's a first world country but it's completely backwards. I was in Ibaraki prefecture, so close enough to Tokyo to make it bearable.
