why is quitting so hard
>>
You're an idiot who thinks addiction is actually real and is still connected to his physical form like some kind of mindless sheep
>>
Cuz no will power.
>>
>>24334352
did you quit anon?
>>
my main obstacle to quitting is that cigs do wonders for my social anxiety. hell, I'm almost confident then.

that's a hell of a thing to give up, just to go back to being a wreck.

Because smoking is the only way your virgin ass can satisfy your oral fixation.
>>
Because you have low tolerances to mild discomfort and irritation.

In other words you are a weak willed faggot who was dumb to get hooked in the first place.

>Wah, I am slightly uncomfortable and annoyed all the time
>so hard wah
This is you. This is what you sound like when you complain about quitting cigarettes.
Take control of yourself and just deal with it for a week, then don't pick that shit up ever again.
>>
>>24334366
not him, but i did.

consider vaping. to me, vaping is easier to quit than smoking. cigarettes bring forth a stronger compulsion to smoke later, whereas the urge to vape is much more mild.

i do neither now. it was pretty easy to quit vaping cold turkey.

going from smoking to vaping may be difficult, but there's lots of documentation online as to the best way to do it.
>>

>week

Confirmed for never being addicted to smoking

retard
>>
>>24334417
It's the opposite for me. As soon as the nicotine kicks in I get very anxious. In the past it didn't have this effect on me, but on the flipside it made quitting a lot easier.
>>
>>24334586
It is only in your head after a week. The physiological addiction to nicotine is broken after a week or so.
After that it is just in your head. If you were not a weak faggot you can take control of your own damn mind by then.

Confirmed for having shit will

Faggot.

This is hell
I swear this gets harder as the time goes.
>>
>>24334830
Water or coffee breaks?
>>
My subconscious desire for self termination prevents me from quitting.
>>
>>24334323
if you wanted to quit you already would have stopped, but you want to smoke because you keked your brain into thinking nicotine will make your bleak existence more bearable
>>
>>24334323
because smoking is highly addictive
>>
>>24334352
But we are our physical form. We are our neural network. But we can influence it, exercise control over it. Slowly but surely.

I'm doing nofap and it is not easy. Cravings for porn, cravings to supplement porn and view something like instagram girls in bikinis. But it is all the same supernatural stimulus which I want to eliminate from my life. It is as simple as that.
>>
>>24334323
Try quitting coffee, fool.
That's actually difficult because it actually hurts for a long time.

Addiction to smoking is less of a substance dependence and more of a habit.
>>
>>24336416
It all depends really, quit coffee and yeah it was real hard, but I did drink like 6 cups a day, I used to smoke 20 cigs a day and I started at like 12 years old, I am in my late 20's now and trust me, it really is hard. As soon as I stop I start derealizing and getting anxious.

Before anyone tries to one up, I did cold turkey on benzo's so fuck off with your muh hard drug shit.
>>
>>24336475
Oh I forgot to add, I switched over to a vape and love it. Honestly recommend it to people, don't give into the mouth fedora shit around the net, swear it's just big tobacco shilling that caught on.
>>
>>24336496
>>24336475
Smoking is a Habit, not a substance dependence.

It's obvious that it's much more difficult to quit than most substances, especially if you did it for a long time.
>>
>>24334323
Vape man, you're already on r9k so not being autistic is out of the question, smoked about 50g every few days, lungs were dying, doctors told me would need help breathing in a few years, bought a vape, not a shitty supermarket one, go on YT, find a starter kit, Kangertech have done a nice one, and start vaping.

Lung problems getting better, spend about 20pounds a month as appose to a week, look like a faggot but who cares what normies think.

Smoking isn't just about the addiction to nicotine. it's a daily ritual, having that first smoke in the morning, with your coffee, on your breaks at work and while having a beer or glass of wine.
>>
>>24334532
>yeah, i vape
>>
>>24334323
chemicals included into to tobaccoo

if im not mistaken there is still sth going on in courts and owners of big brands are trying to silence ex workers who saw big shit going on closed doors.
all the additives they include to make it close impossible to quit. i once heard the name of the substances that create heroin like dependence.
But you wont hear that in mainstream media for obvious reasons.
Sometimes its better to live the blue pill life.
>>
Quitting is only hard when you really don't want to quit. This is the best information I can give anyone as a former cigarette smoker.
>>
>>24336690
This is true for anything. I could quit tomorrow. It would suck cock, but I could do it. The thing is that I don't want to quit. I love smoking
>>
>>24336690
This

I've quit for years at a time, months at a time and I just go cold turkey whenever I feel like it. I know it's typical addict-speak to say "I can quit anytime!" but my track record more than proves that it's possible. The only reason I keep going back every so often is because I enjoy it. Being a NEET means that going outside for a cigarette is the only time I will ever go outside and I enjoy that.

I went from being a 45 cigarette a day smoker to a non-smoker in the span of an hour and didn't have any unpleasant side effects or even cravings. Haven't touched smokes this entire year until a week ago, but come on it's fucking autumn. Watching the leaves fall while having a smoke is heavenly.
>>
>>24336690
That's it.
Smoking is fucking great, it's really fun and feels good.

I go on tolerance breaks lots, though.
>>
>>24336333
EARTHLY DESIRES BE GONE.

for me its hard because i have no reason to quit
>>
>>24334323
Because you've attached cigarettes to a desire to alleviate something. Stress, boredom, loneliness, etc.

I was addicted to opiates because when I used them I stopped having panic attacks. After I realized this, after my first time using I made a deal with myself: I would knowingly become addicted provided I only used them only to treat my panic attacks.

My panic attacks were constant and unpredictable so I was using about as much as any other addict but I stuck to my guns about my conditions for using and once a season I would spend 3 days locked in my house going through withdrawals to lower my tolerance and to get used to the idea of a life without opiates.

I ended up getting a staph infection after 2 years of using that nearly killed me. My brush with death helped me finally stop having panic attacks.
I stopped using and haven't gone back since. I'm not going to sugar coat it. It sucked. Long after my body stopped feeling like it was plunged in scalding ice, my mind kept burning, but I stuck to the deal I made with myself and eventually I remembered why I used in the first place, realized that my panic attacks were over, and was able to move on.

But I was INSANELY LUCKY because my condition for using was something that could be fulfilled, albeit with great pain and effort.

Most of the time, you're just going to have to look at what makes you smoke and find an alternative to dealing with it.

You smoke because of stress? Meditate, run, play vidya, do whatever alternative you need to decompress after a stressful day. You smoke because of boredom? Find something else to occupy your time. You smoke because it's a good way to meet people at parties? Find another way to strike up a conversation. Etc.
>>
>Started smoking at the start of 2014
>Started off only smoking 2 cigarettes for each 40 minute episode of shows I would watch and never when I wasn't watching something
>Now I smoke a shitload and go through an ounce of tobacco in 1-2 days
>Even smoke while playing vidya

Last cigarette was 13 hours ago, 8 of those hours were spent asleep. So fucking tempted. Do you think it's affected my health in the relatively short time I've been smoking? Would I notice any improvements if I quit?

Not really hard, just don't pick up a cigarette, put in your mouth and apply fire. inb4 "You don't understand addiction"

I started smoking regularly at 14 and continued until 19. It ramped up to going through a 50g pack in less than a week towards the last few months. Then I stopped, I wanted to see if I could and I could. Whenever I wanted to smoke I just wouldn't.

>less calories in
>more calories out
>>
I don't understand how people get addicted to cigs. I smoked about 3 a day for a few months for something to do during breaks, then quit cold turkey when I decided it was enough. Self-control, familia
>>
Lucky me, can't get addicted to it,
>>
>>24334323
It's pretty easy actually, all you have to do is be yourself :^)
>>
I thought I was addicted until I quite cold turkey derrp lol. Then someone gave me half a pack and I smoked it all over three days but didn't buy a new one.

I don't think it's that hard to quit, you just do it. I think things like meth and heroin are probably hard to quit but not cigs. And all those benzos and SSRIs people take are probably dangerous to quit too.
>>
OP, listen to me, I'm dead fucking serious. This will only work if you take this 100% seriously.
Firstly, smoke ONE more cigarette, make sure you're VERY aware of what it's doing for you, focus on the cigarette, you'll realise it does nothing good for you.
Then stop. There is NO SUCH THING AS ONE MORE CIGARETTE after that. If you tell yourself you can have one more, you're a liar who wants to be addicted.
>>
>>24338291

Keep doing it everyday and you will, as other anons said it's not about nicotine itself, but it makes you feel and it's available as much as you want, so you have no reason not to smoke one when you're feeling low.
>>
Quitting isn't hard you tremendous faggot. I've quit like 20 times.
>>
>>24336562
this. If I don't smoke on a break then I don't really feel like it's a break. It's funny because my breaks are really short and I don't usually have time to actually enjoy the cigarette.
>>
>>24334323
You really need to have a good reason to quit. You can't just go by it not being healthy or it consume too much and/of your life. How much and how great would be the benefit if you stopped?
>>
>>24339079

Will you knock it off? He doesn't have to smoke just one more cig and think what it's doing to him. He can smoke as many as he wants AS LONG AS he thinks of what it's doing to him, accurately.

I don't understand "addiction." I don't even think it's real. If you really wanted to stop, you just would. But you don't, so you don't.

Lol, you guys are a couple of faggots, trying to call people uncool on fucking /r9k/ of all places. Plus I know you got this whole "mouth fedora" thing from the bandwagon here a long time ago. It's normal to vape now, even cool kids are vaping now. The fedoralords of vaping are the ones who blow massive clouds in public air or who vape in inappropriate places.
