Recommend me a good video game or anime for escapism.

Have you watched Charlotte? Pretty good one from last season. Fairly average at first, but with plot twists later.
>>24331591
I have. It was really, REALLY shit though.

bump for vested interest

that's kinda fun
Welcome to the NHK. The wacky, upbeat adventures of a drug-abusing game designer and his perverted chauvinist friend. Avoid reading about it too much if possible, it's the sort of plot where spoilers really ruin it.
>>24331653
Already watched it, one of my favourite anime. The last episodes were so good.
>>24331665
Goddamn fuck you, I wanted to make you miserable.
>>24331674
At least you made me chuckle

Honestly? If you like a realistic first person shooter, get America's Army Proving Grounds. It's free on Steam. The big thing about this is that it requires team work and mic communication to play the match effectively, so you're pretty engrossed in the game or you're dead. You also have to wait for the round to end for respawn so you spend your time watching others and learning the game. It's kind of repetitive already, and some servers only keep one map in rotation... But it becomes a good thing once you learn the map. If you can do the same thing over and over without becoming bored, it's a pretty captivating game. Keeps you on your toes and focused because you could get shot at any moment. All I takes is one bullet to the head or two to the chest and you're done. The community is pretty serious about the game,, which can be very comical, but if you want to win you'll become serious too. IDK. It's mindless and base but it works for me. Other games that are really complex confuse me with the controls too much and I get frustrated and can't enjoy it as much. The game looks pretty good and for the most part plays damn smooth.
Tldr; Americas Army Proving Grounds

Thanks man, I really appreciate your help. I'll definitely check it out later
When you say "escapist games", do you mean immersive graphicboner open-world stuff, or like, mechanically solid games with high replay value. Or games with good storyline and characters. Or time sinks. Same with anime. Not all people want to escape to the same world. Be more specific about what genres and elements you like.

Ninja Gaiden Black
>>24331762
Games:
Huge timesinks with a lot of replayability, preferably single player
Anime:
Good characterdesign and a story that will keep me invested, no medieval-shit
>>24331886
Animal crossing, dark Souls, bravely default, black and white
>>24331300
Fallout 4 came out just recently anon. It's mighty immersive.
>>24331734
it's ARMA meets counterstrike, lacking the qualities of both, with a toxic american community always boasting about "muh freedomz".I have 173 hours
>tfw marathoned NGE
>tfw just finished EOE
>tfw never felt so depressed in my life
Best recommendation I can give is one of the souls game. I go back and play them again whenever I'm feeling low and it helps take your mind off things. Can't recommend blood borne because I haven't played it, heard good things though
I would argue that Elite:Dangerous is the Robot game par exelence
Dwarf Fortress
Rimworld
Factorio
Cities:Skyline
Craft the World
Terraria
Minecraft
If you like to build something up, most of them are better with mods
What anime have you watched senpai?
One Punch Man is airing right now
Persona 3 and especially 4 are great for escapism, sadly they don't last forever and you will probably feel like a sad sack of shit after playing them
>>24332170
Same desu senpai
You can do so many different runs with crazy difficulty, endless replay value
Vampire the Masqeurade: Bloodlines
it may look shitty but trust me
>>24331591
>Charlotte
>good
AHAHAHAHAHHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
It was so terrible that I thought it could have been parodying something at some points.
Fallout 4
>You can build your own comfy sentuary.
>Travel with partner.
>>24331886
>Huge timesinks with a lot of replayability, preferably single player
Stalker: Shadow of Chernobyl & Call of Pripypat
FTL: Faster than Light
Civilization 5
Binding of Isaac
Dwarf Fortress
XCOM
Deus Ex 1 and Deus Ex HR
Invisible Inc
>Good characterdesign and a story that will keep me invested, no medieval-shit
Most anime with good storylines are well known and overhyped. It's simplistic at the start, but I really, really loved Trigun's second half if you haven't watched it. You probably have.
>>24332140
I hate how everyone calls Shinji a bitch for having a modicum of realism and not being a typical invincible shonen protagonist.
ARIA is a relaxing feel-good anime.
Unreal World is a nice and immersive free game.
>It's simplistic at the start, but I really, really loved Trigun's second half if you haven't watched it. You probably have.
Actually I haven't, thanks man
>>24332422
The more I look at the way she sits the more awkward it looks. It's a chill show otherwise yea, also; Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou
>>24332387
the only people who think like that are shonenfags and underage retards, just ignore them
>replayability
Play a Monster Hunter game.
Legend of Grimrock
>>24332744
I agree, sitting on a pole like that might be a bit awkward.
YKK is special, I can't help but feel a bit melancholic when reading it.
As for ARIA, reading is fine too, the anime does have a nice and relaxing soundtrack.
>>24332743
It dramatically changes mood (and plot) from a lighthearted comedy-action manga to a morally complex and dark story about the nature of violence and pacifism in the second half. The characterization is also very developed and the character designs are interesting, even though it's set on a desert planet and I normally hate deserts.
IIRC, it was written by a Japanese Christian. I'm not religious, but knowing that afterward just made sense and was really comfy in a strange way. I can't really explain it, but the Christian undertones are very subtle and practically unnoticeable compared to the more overt ethical questions it asks. I came away from it feeling very optimistic.
>>24332744
>>24332987
ARIA is the best. YKK is also great.
>>24333003
Sounds great, I also happen to love deserts so that's actually a plus for me
God bless you guys for your recommendations, it means a lot to me
>>24332387
Shinji was a bitch though. I don't even remember what happened in NGE since its been 5 years since I watched through it, but I distinctly remember the impression of Shinji being a bitch ass nigga.
>>24332113
>>24331734
On that note, Insurgency is pretty good. /v/ has a steam group, and you can play as the kebabs.
ALAHU AKBAR!!!
>>24333045
Well, if I had the option to live in an Anime universe, I'd definitely choose ARIA and Neo Venezia.
Anyone watch SAO 2? How is it?
>>24331300
Im almost done watching your lie in april, its pretty good.
>>24333161
You have to try harder
>>24331300
I used to watch anime as a kid (mainly just DBZ and Naruto) but now that i'm an adult none of them seem to capture my attention the same way they did as a kid.
I just want something to distract me from the world, instead of replaying Bioshock and The Last of Us every day.
>>24333357
>You have to try harder
So does that mean it's not good?
>>24333391
Not him but it's pretty shit. SAO died after they started introducing that gay fairy shit.
>That empty feeling when all your friends have quit playing WoW
