Is that a real book? I thought Martin Luther was all about equality, civil rights and ending bigotry.

Prepare to get fucking spooked.
This book can be hard to find but is possibly one of the most important books of the 21st century.
Honourable mentions:

>Mein Kampf by Adolf Hitler
Grapes of Wrath is a good read as well.

I agree. It's also wise, before going into the story, to learn the context of what Melville was going through while writing it.
>son committed suicide
>wife wants him to leave her because she thinks he is insane
>lost his audience because he stopped writing cheap adventure serials and tried to write deeper novels
>he spent a few years perfecting Moby fucking Dick and everyone spit on him for it

>You need to love yourself before you are able to love others
Such bullshit could only be written by a psychanalyst
>>24332725
It's true though. Adult children of dysfunctional, loveless homes grow up unable to love themselves. It's impossible for them to genuinely love others because their hearts are empty.
Love is about giving. Can't give what you don't have.
Inviting the higher self, a force of love into your life.

I've found the part where he explains how influences of your parents, both of your mother and father, might form you.
Helped me to realize the disfunctionality of my parents and therefore the causes or likely amplifiers of the social problems I was faceing. Once I identified those, I was able to activly tell my parents to fuck off when the further did them and had the means to activly work on the parts that I was missing.
I'm still autistic as fuck on occasions, but I do see an improvement.
To each his own though.

It's an interesting read about the Stanford Prison Psychological experiment. nice dubs but sounds like you're just being a big fekin baby
Talks about a lot of surprising correlations in human behavior.
>>24333190
selfhelp books like "10 steps to become a chad" have no value as they're usually written by people who made it, mostly by luck/chance, while the ones buying and reading them will have a hard time recreating the specific circumstances that enabled those authors to now write a book like this.
Books like "The Art of Loveing" are rather reads to selfreflect. Without reflection there is no change. No Philosopher's work is going to ultimately change anything in anyones life, unless the person reading it reflects about what is applicable to them and starts to change from within themselves.
But I guess it comes mostly down to the persons motivation to change. When someone's motivated enough even a comicstrip might hold a deeper revelation that changes their life.
also anything ernest hemingway and graham greene, unless you're too far gone

You're coming off as a big baby right now. Maybe stop looking to others for reasons to hate yourself/not hate yourself? Do you blame your bullies too?
>Despise the world. Forasmuch as I know not the hour in which I must quit the world, I will not grow fond of it. I'm thinking about reading that book, but I heard it's extremely long and kind of confusing. Is it the kind of book that's best read when you take notes as you read along? I don't mind taking notes, but I'm just curious whether or not the fact that it's really long and confusing is just a meme or not.
>>24326595
I'm tired of this "pol" meme. Antisemitsm has been a part of 4chan before /pol/

not really, racism before /pol/ deliberately trod the line between politically correct and incorrect because no one actually believed in it and the purpose was to get a rise out of people, it was more subtle
now it is just frothing at the mouth rants where you seem to want to make yourselves the object of fun
>>24334135
I don't think you can categorize all racism pre /pol/ on 4chin that way
Racism has definitely been here pretty much the whole time, as it's definitely been in humans pretty much the whole time (maybe?) or anyway longer than 4chan has existed
>>24334163
Not him, but Racism on /b/ was pretty fun, simply because it came from the lack of knowing. At least back then you could discuss certain topics like music or tv shows with blacks and not have the thread flooded with "Nigger" and have some decent discussion.
I tend to stay away from that shit now. Especially on /tv/
>>24334220
That was my first post on this topic as well.
I just think it's wishful thinking to think "it wasn't this real insidious racism pre pol, now it's changed and everyone is an antisemite who calls people coonaloon nigger every thread"
Maybe it ramped up a little, but only coz the site got bigger
