I'm not denying that being "gifted" or whatever the fuck they call it these days has its benefits, of course I pick up a wide variety of concepts and certain skills with an obscene degree of ability. It's enough that I actually feel guilty standing beside people who work much harder than I do or who have devoted a lot of time to their particular talent. It has its accidental drawbacks, too. I think the high IQ sorta went along with just being neurologically different, and in a lot of ways that keeps me from being too awesome.

It hasn't. High intelligence is the most overrated trait a person can have. A good work ethic will get you further than a high IQ ever will. It isn't completely arbitrary, as it can be used to predict academic performance but beyond that there are few real world scenarios where it proves useful.

Well, my emotional intelligence is low so I have trouble making and keeping friends in the first place. I wouldn't say it hinders my ability but it certainly doesn't help. Hell, I have a bit of oneitis for a girl who is a legitimate moron. I don't even care because she's extremely sweet, nice and cute. I think she's afraid of me because I have something like 40 points on her. Sometimes I feel like some of the things I say fly right over her head.. like I have to dumb myself down a little. But I don't care. I would rather be with her than anyone else. But I can tell when someone isn't the brightest bulb in the box yes. I tend to take that person's opinion a little less seriously than I normally would but that's as far as I go with it. I reiterate, intelligence is overrated. It proves useful in academics only, after that your social ability (networking) matters a lot more. I would gladly trade 20-30 IQ points to be socially competent, but instead I get this.
