Basically my autism.
I had a small group of about 4-5 friends, we stayed in touch after HS and would get together at least once a week if not more.
I had a close group of online friends that I knew for about 4 years at the time as well.
A new game came out and I wanted to play with my online friends and not my rl friends. I didn't want to bring them together either because I'm a compulsive liar and I didn't want any of the bullshit I've spewed over the years to be let out of the closet.
The genius me then proceeded to totally cut ties with my rl friends, tell them I hated them, basically causing a shit ton of unnecessary drama to keep my online identity a secret. They continued to try getting into contact with me, but it eventually stopped. A few of them have moved out of the country, the other two are off at school somewhere else. All because I was the piece of shit who destroyed the group.
This happened around 4 years ago now, I'm still close friends with my online friends but I haven't had a rl friend or gathering since that autistic drama bullshit.
I'll never forgive myself for what happened.

Mfw unintentionally became the leader of my own band of misfits (Group of 12). Mfw group split up into pairs after I left for college, and I only kept in contact with three of the closer friends. Mfw now a group of four who does everything together. Mfw they look up to me for being a genuine friend who takes the time to help them sort out and fix their lives. Mfw they openly appreciate and give me heartfelt speeches of thanks when I jump to their rescue when they need it Mfw the old members talk to the others and tries and convince them into talking to me to let them back in. Mfw I helped my major robot friend get a girlfriend and wingman-ed the hell out of him enough to get him laid several times.
Its a pretty good feeling.

I spend all day inside and have an obsession with anime and games and other generally off putting interest in the eyes of the public that would more or less condemn me into being a "loser". I also identify with almost every sense of the phrase "redpilling", and feel more connected with people here mindset wise than I do anywhere else. I don't even share this stuff with the group. I've also picked up a few robots on here and helped them turn their lives around, as I get some type of bizarre enjoyment from helping others. Honestly I can't tell if I'm here for me anymore.

I honestly hate it but it's the only reason I still hang around people anymore because if anyone else was in charge besides the old guy I would never cow before any of them and be alone again
It's pretty nice to have a lot of trained manpower at your disposal and a degree of loyalty but I wish they valued my knowledge and opinion but it's a struggle to get people together and keep the peace amongst them because of the sheer amount of rage and bitterness that flows through them all

Any advice I could give is is determined based off your own circumstances and personal turmoils. There is no specific advice or overall following outside the shit normies consider deep and realistic.
I guess the most general thing is to put yourself out there, especially socially. Its painfully awkward and it will make you cringe, but the best thing to do for yourself is to acknowledge it and do your best not to seem rattled by it. You're going to fail, its going to hurt you, but theres no magic word that will make it 100% safe guaranteed. Your ability to really socialize is measured highly (not fully) on your ability to seem comfortable with another person.
