I know IPAs are considered the "trend" now, but goddamn they are just so much better than normal lagers or whatever. They just taste so much more interesting and complex. I tried Busweiser again for the first time in a long time last weekend, and its just total shit.

$7 for a sixer, $13 for a twelve pack.

Malt is not beer with the alcohol removed, it's a drink made from the same ingredient as beer (malted barley) but not fermented. So it has a similar but not identical flavour profile.

This anon gets it. German imports are perfect for those who appreciate flavor over novelty and don't want to spend $10 for a 22 oz. Czech, English, and Belgian brews are of course great as well.

American craft beer has a lot of variety, but tends to be unbalanced and exaggerated.
>>
Anything that's not watered down to shit is fine with me.

Except one time I drank an oatmeal stout. It tasted dumb.
>>
i don't understand how beer snobs can afford to drink craft brews daily, unless you only have 2-3 beers a day. since i tend to go through at least a 12 pack a day, i can't afford to drink craft. i'll have a good beer with dinner and maybe one more while watching a movie, but other than that, it's pbr/high life/budweiser for the entire day.
>>
>>24303731
I think you have problem.

Having a nice beer with dinner on a regular basis is how beer snobs afford it. They don't just chug it down.

Frankly, it's a more pleasant experience than pretending to have a frat party all by yourself

>>
>>24303860
problem? i think it helps me solve them

i don't pretend to have a frat party by myself. beer is what i drink. some people drink water, some drink soda, some drink tea, some drink juice. i drink beer.

As an underage college student, my favorite beer is "free" with a close second of "cold."
>>
Lagunitas Pils and Saranac Adirondack Lager are my favorites.

But 99% of the time I just drink Bud because I need to get a lot of beer into my stomach in a short amount of time to get where I want to be. This stuff scales by body mass, and I'm 320lbs. If I have the option, I will always go for bourbon instead and drink it neat.

Gouden Carolus, either the tripel or classic. It's so good and the brewery is in my hometown, so I can get it everywhere I go out to. Pretty sweet.

>Pic related. Only pic I found with both the tripel and classic, don't mind the reward thing.
>>
>>24305714
I'm going to Europe this summer and want to know what to expect. I don't plan on going to any nice bars or getting anything ridiculous. How much does a normal beer cost?
>>
>>24305741
A Gouden Carolus is usually around 3.50 EU in a bar. A normal pilsner around 2.00 EU, depending on the bar. More luxurious pilsners are 2.50 EU. This is in bars in Belgium, at least. Alternatively you could just buy drinks in a supermarket, which is cheaper generally.
Ales tend to vary in price depending on which one you order though. Some are 2.50 EU, others are nearly 5.00 EU, which is a lot, but usually worth it.

Once again, I only know prices from Belgium.
>>
>>24305787
I'll mostly be in northern France around Pays de Caux so I would assume the prices would be somewhat similar? And that's actually a lot better than I expected, because those prices are pretty much identical to prices here. Hopefully I'll have the opportunity to try a Gouden Carlous because from what I've read it sounds delicious
>>
>>24305902
I guess the prices will be comparable, might be somewhat different because of differences in taxes. Not sure though.
I'm pretty sure you won't have as great beers there as you would where I live. But we'll see.
>>
>>24303634
>American craft beer has a lot of variety, but tends to be unbalanced and exaggerated.
okay, i'm finally drunk enough to address this. you're completely wrong. not wrong in the sense that many american craft beers can be exaggerated, but wrong in the sense that this is a bad thing. one of the incredible things about the american craft scene is that you're able to pinpoint a beer that tastes incredible to your palette. this is a good thing. having a "balanced" beer that doesn't exaggerate any specific characteristic makes the beer bland and appeal to the mainstream. i'll take a beer that takes a risk, isn't produced as heavily, and appeals to a niche over just a standard beer. and if a note in that beer pops that my tastebuds agree with it, i have a beergasm.

how, exactly, is this problem?
>>
>>24305986

It's the opposite of a problem, just like you said. Dumb yuros are just reluctant to admit American beer is best and like with everything else they get second place.
>>
>>24297187
PBR is great for what it is; a cheap American Macro. Probably the best American Macro in fact. It's no Fullers ESB, but it's not pretending to be either.
>>
>>24303731

>>
>>24303931
It's doesn't have a heavy enough mouth feel to take advantage of the nitrogen desu. If a heavy nitro beer is what you're going for, there are better, and if a milk stout is what you're going for, there are also better.
>>
>>24303731
>since i tend to go through at least a 12 pack a day
I think you might have a problem there buddy boy.
>>
>>24297187
Is this meme about American beer finally over? I've heard that there are some fine garage breweries and that kinda stuff.
Our German beer isn't as nice as you think, at least the large brands. They are all very similar in terms of ingredients, they use pressed pellets instead of actual malt or hop and leat their beer mature not long enough.
We have some pretty good breweries as well those, I mean lesser known ones on a family size business
>>
>>24308147
>Is this meme about American beer finally over?
American craft beer is best beer. Probably the only thing in the culinary world that we're the best at, though.
>>

>>
>>24309922
if we're drinking the very bottom of the bottom shelf, sure. before i became of age, i drank steel reserves on a daily basis, because they were $1 for 24oz of 8.1% alcohol, and it tasted a bit better than all malt liquors. now i drink pbr, bud, or high life as my daily brew, even though it's a bit more expensive.
