I've seen Regular Show a couple times and I think I agree with the random thing. That seems to be the go-to humor these days for kid's-show-designed-for-adult-nostalgia

Ever since Steven Universe, the fagfags and other gross, demented types ditched Adv.T for more the more upfront display of erotic fetishism afforded to them, cutting the fat and leaving the core of what I'd actually say is a more Newgrounds/4chan-esque followerbase of "youth spirit"; edgy, quirky, geeky/arsty, albeit normal-functioning.
