Have a glass of water on hand. Take a small toke out of whatever smoking device you're using, then as deep a breath of air as you feel you can manage. You're probably going to cough, and if you don't breath deeply enough you probably won't get high. Get yourself in a comfortable position so you don't freak out. I've never had a bad high but I've heard of people getting paranoid as fuck so make sure you're in a situation where you won't get anxious.
You should enjoy it. First time I did it the first thing I noticed was some classical song playing in the background of everything. Pretty sure that's not normal with weed because no one believed me but it was fucking awesome.
Also remember there are different strains, Indica and Sativa give a different high and even things like whether its grown outdoors or indoors can have a different effect but I wouldn't worry too much at first just don't expect the same high all the time.

Some people say it was overwhelming their first time, but for me it was the opposite. I smoked almost 2 full bowls, inhaled deep and kept it down a long time, and I didn't feel a thing. I was a scrawny little shit too, so I can't explain it.
My second time was from the same nug, and I was baked before I could finish one bowl.

Until recently I often got stuck in thought labyrinths trying to imagine how other people see me. It was always started by someone mirroring/commenting on something I did. My imagination made up a version of myself with a single aspect of my demeanor grotesquely exaggerated. By deciding that these thoughts were bullshit paranoia, and practicing meditation I can now stop these kind of shitty thoughts before I get too deep into them. Also it's gotten better since I smoked more alone and could examine my head without distractions and after I did truffles in Amsterdam.

Panic attacks have a lot of symptoms similar to heart attacks, and can come out of nowhere, even when you're feeling just jim-dandy. First time I had a panic attack, I thought "oh dear God I'm dying of a heart attack", not because I was scared, but because I couldn't breathe and my heart was pounding, chest tight as shit, and shooting pains all up and down my left arm, everything I'd always been told is involved in a heart attack.

I knew it wasn't gonna last forever but it was till a terrible unexpected feeling that I'd rather not experience again. Happened after years of smoking, I just smoked a bowl one day and my heart rate went up to around 150 and I couldn't think/see straight.
I didn't expect it to happen, I didn't over think it was going to happen, I didn't think I was gonna die, I didn't think it was going to be eternal. It's just not a pleasant experience and it happens to some people.

Reason I even bring this all up because essentially every girl I've met has smoked weed or smokes weed actively.
