Who here has severe phone anxiety?

Having to make a call makes me want to die and gives me panic attacks.
>>
>>24167311
Just dial the number in and hover your finger over the call button. Then wait until you twitch and hit it.

Fuck I know this feel. I have no problem talking to people in person, but for some reason making phone calls and even texting or email makes me choke on my tonsils.
>>
FUCK

my mom would always tell me shit like "oh anon just call them haha"

ITS NOT THAT SIMPLE REEEEEEEEEEEe
>>
>>24167387
For me calling is only hard if I don't know the person I'm calling. Calling someone I know though is easier than texting or emailing them. I don't know why this is. It really makes no sense.
>>

>>24167411
I'm calling a job i applied for, they called me yesterday but i missed it, so im trying to call back. I dont even know if its the right thing to do, i'll probably annoy them.
>>
>>24167346
This is a good way to do it.
>>
>>24167425
Oooo yeah, I'd be really scared to do that. You probably should, but if I was in the same situation, I'd block their number and pretend it never happened.
>>
Fuck, yeah.

I can talk to a person face to face, through text, through email, through letter, through fucking raven. But phone calls start my heart racing and send me into a panic.

Thank fuck for online food ordering.
>>
>>24167311
I have no idea how the phone can make me such an autist. I check my voicemail once every 6 months because I'm afraid someone's going to yell at me. I wouldn't care if they did it to my face, but over the phone it becomes a fear
>>
If you have a job that requires you to be 24/7 on call you will end up developing an anxiety response to text tones/rings/buzzing etc.

Or if when you pick up the phone it is always negative.
Just a typical response.
>>
>>24167411
This. I hate having to introduce myself on the phone and explain shit.
Also I don't know if I'm going deaf or people are just mumbling shit under their noses but I often have trouble hearing what they say.
>>
>>24167443
Called. Interview at 12 tomorrow. Shitting myself now. Never had an interview before.
It's a woman.
>>
>>24167652
Worst when they cant hear you
>>
>>24167311
I have no problem making phone calls, unless it's for say some company's information centre, then I get really nervous.

HOWEVER, I have a really big problem answering calls.
Whenever the phone at my parent's house rings I'm too afraid to answer it because it could be someone I don't know and then I turn to spaghetti.
I always let it ring so someone else answers it.
>>
>>24167311

I have phone anxiety but none in person. It's really weird and destroying my life, since I am missing bills/friends ect.

>>
>>24167803
Dont worry senpai, if you bomb it atleast you get interview experience.
>>
>>24168396
And once you make the call and are talking everything is fine and confident.

Except you fuck up the initial intro and they ask you to repeat

Phones are absolute torture. Not only the anxiety before the call itself. There's usually background noise or bad sound quality that forces me to ask people to repeat themselves multiple times. Also I never get when it's my turn to speak so I end up talking over the other person repeatedly. Sometimes when I think the conversation is over I hang up only to realise a split-second later that the other person hasn't finished speaking.

I'm exhausted and drenched in sweat after every phone call so I'm happy I don't have to do it too often.
>>
I hate talking on the phone when there is someone nearby listening. I need to be alone

Also I need complete silence or I have trouble focusing on the call
>>
I have an intense fear of calling in sick at work, but that's about the only thing.

absolute nightmare. those faggots turned brick sized phone with basic functions like calling and SMS sending with a screen 5x5cm to a mini laptop that has thousands of app, features, camera, browser, colourful big ass screen and yet they cant improve phones MOST IMPORTANT function call quality? what the fuck

>>24168688
>I hate talking on the phone when there is someone nearby listening.
yup, i have absolutely nothing to hide from others, but i spill my spaghetti and rarely pay attention to a caller when someones around and listens to you
>>

>make call

>realizing you're still alone even though someone is talking to you

>not know when to hang up after said goodbye, too quickly could be rude
>>

It's like the system is designed to make me suffer.

Wanna know how I got over my social anxiety? Public speaking. Been doing speeches for years. Only like 4 or 5 a year, but it helps.

I had to do this shit for 3 months and every call was as bad as the last. Some of us just cant do it
>>
Me family. My Skype anxiety is worse than my phone anxiety though.
>>
I mask my phone anxiety by being an asshole to the other person. This actually works to cure anxiety im most situations, like regular conversation and driving.
>>
>>24169583
I actually find it easier to speak in front of a crowd than on the phone, because these things >>24168652 aren't a problem.
>>
>>24169583
>Only like 4 or 5 a year, but it helps.

I don't know if I'm just somehow broken or something but
>get drunk in order to talk in VOIP
>can't do it
>keep trying for six years
>finally manage to open my mouth and talk
>progresses pretty fast from there
>soon talking a mile a minute
>can do it sober too
>take a break from the game that requires me to talk in VOIP for a month
>can't utter a word even if I drink
>have to repeat the same process again
>>
I cant even order through a drive through. I think it has something to do with conversations being less predictable if you can't see who you're talking to.
>>
I have to make a lot of calls as part of my job. Often it's long phone calls giving people a grilling about an accident they supposedly had (I investigate fraud for an insurance company) but I've been doing it for years so it's not difficult for me.

My mate still gets me to order pizzas for him and he's 25. That said he gets mad pussy and I've not had sex since 2013. Not sure this is really a robot thing.
>>
>>24167602
This is accurate. It's why I don't answer calls anymore from unknown numbers. I can't imagine what they could be calling about that would be good. It's not like it's to tell me I won prize.
