See if you can't still use recuva to get some of the data back. Another trick which sounds stupid but actually does help is to put your drive in the freezer inside multiple ziplock bags.

Do this and get everything you can off. Treat the drive as if it'll die again, because it will.
In the future it's worth having periodic backups for this sort of thing. Don't just backup your data when you think you'll need it.
