I think I'm on the autism spectrum. When I was young I was displaying erratic behavior. While it wasn't disrupting my schoolwork, I frequently got in trouble (the most distinct memory I have is the time I just leaned over and bit a kid on the arm and when I was taken to the principal's office, I just sat there not reacting and couldn't say why I had done it). So my parents took me to a few psychiatrists who told them I was autistic or had asperger's and they said, "Umm no thanks we will get a second/third/fourth opinion" until I was diagnosed ADHD and given stimulant medication which solved most of my issues.
Making friends for me is exceedingly difficult. I try very hard to get along, and I do for the most part, but I firmly believe people can sense something "off" with me, and they avoid me even if they don't realize it. They seem intimidated by my presence no matter what approach I try. I always have to be the one to invite people to do things and I always have to call all the shots. And the weird thing is, most of the time everyone has a great time, but no one ever invites me to do things with them afterwards.
I have damn near perfect pitch, and playing piano is my full time job. Pretty much became obsessed with listening to/creating music as a kid/teenager. I only recently discovered a love for piano because of the dedication it requires to master it. I like to improvise and I can do it for hours on end just flowing from one song into the next. If I'm performing I go into this autistic reverie and black out while my body plays, and I "snap back to reality" when I lift my hands off the keyboard and people clap.
I make a modest living, so I haven't completely let my parents down. I just think they thought I would be some genius scientist since I was smart as a kid, but I just wasn't interested in school much.
