I honestly truly enjoyed KLK, although I don't watch much anime so I probably have shit taste. I was also watching it as it was being released, so I couldn't binge watch every episode, so that might have made it more fun. I also really like Gurren Lagann which I watched when I was about 18 and again more recently.

English is riddled with loanwords and they're used to avoid doing long awkward roundabout sentences, even many words that are considered english nowadays are usually rooted in other languages further back in time. People use schadenfreude without batting an eyelid. At some point there probably was spergs like you who cringed at the use of it too. It's a natural process. While something like hikki isn't a loanword yet it may very well become one at some point, and in an anime thread like this it's pretty kekkou-desu to throw them around, a bit like latin phrases are often thrown around in other discussions.

You wot? Did you actually watch it? Evangelion's message is actually really fuckin simple. All of Shinji's problems are because he's a complete shut-in afraid of standing up for himself. Late into the series/movie he realizes this and makes his own decision about Instrumentality.
That's all. The creator is just reaching out to neckbeards and Hikkikomori and telling them that they will have to take control of their own lives to change them. He just happens to be using what he estimated to be thier favorite kind of anime as a medium.
Also the story can be appreciated without buying into any of the psychological stuff to, especially with EoE giving the series a proper ending.

ARIA, easily. Nothing else has affected me quite like ARIA has and I don't think anything will ever top it as my favorite anime.
My other top favorites would be the second season of K-ON!!, Cardcaptor Sakura, Nichijou, and Honey and Clover.

Its a comfy series, yeah, but I love it more than just for that. Its a show that genuinely makes me happy from the bottom of my heart, and I just find it to be the most wonderful show.
From its heartfelt ideas about the wonders of life and enjoying the present as it is and moving on, to the beautiful world that is Neo-Venezia complimented by gorgeous music that sucks you into the shows' enthralling atmosphere, to the endearing and lovable cast who grow throughout the series and whose development culminates beautifully in the final season of the show. Its made me laughed many times, smiled many times, and even cried many times, ESPECIALLY the last few episodes.
I'm gushing a bit, but really its just a show that hits me in just the right places and I love it for that.

ARIA is the series, yes. There is three seasons: Animation, Natural, and Origination.
Animation is the first season, and it basically introduces the characters and a little of the world itself. Its the weakest season, but I still found it enjoyable and incredible relaxing and serene.
Natural is the second season, and is a step up from Animation. It focuses more on the world itself, and expands on it a little more and shows some more of the supernatural elements. It has some really sweet chaarcter-centric episodes and really some of the best episodes in the series. Also the longest ARIA season with 26 episodes, while the other two only have 13.
Origination is the third and final season, and is regarded as the best season. Its an absolutely wonder conclusion that builds off from the previous ones, and where its central ideas and themes are fully realized. The last few episodes for it are incredible, and I don't think i've cried as much to anything like I did those few episodes. Seeing the characters I had grown to love grow up as the series finally concluded cathartic and uplifting, but also a little sad. Amazing experience.
