These are both myths. Germany had large stockpiles of uranium, and nobody has shown what specific technical hurdles the Germans ran into that could have been avoided had certain scientists not left.

You really think the japs would still be around to help you? Unless you offered a lot more material support to Japan (which you couldn't do without declaring war on america) things would probably turn out just as they actually did. You'd basically be forced to brawl it out with north america. Not to mention Russia would probably turn on you as soon as you committed to a front. Stalin always hated Nazi Germany, even during the cease-fire. Makes sense- would you want one of the most aggressive and powerful superpowers at that time on your doorstep, or would you rather side with the american superpower that is very far away and deal with them later?
