Listen you little shit, the only reason governments even have money for such things is because of the enormous wealth created by capitalistic economies.
Furthermore, "government research" is a misleading term. No politician provided any technical expertise. They provided the money, but the research was done by private citizens and companies who did that work because they got paid market price for their work.

Mixed market economies are the only ones that have ever had any sort of longevity or stability. Let's not forget that any purely capitalist economies have never lasted more than a few years tops, and usually in heavily unstable regions. You need those rigid, gunpoint monopolies on force to some degree, if only because any region is surrounded by tons of armed force looking to fill any vacuums.
As for hating capitalism on its face? Yeah, that's pretty fucking silly, especially when typed from a machine that is only affordable thanks to mass production, a massive consumer base, and a viciously globalist manufacturing network. The horrors of communism and capitalism can both be seen in China, where the government forces workers into miserable factories and lifestyles, to grow their nations economically. All of this, of course, is at the expense of the poor. Don't think the poor are treated well in any system or for any reason, but primarily capitalist countries will be richer, and thus, have traditionally expanded social programs through their public sector.
Also, OP probably doesn't realize how much computer tech was developed privately. HTTP and all that stuff wouldn't have been feasible if it weren't for the transistor, for example, which was developed privately.
But, let's not forget, the very foundations of modern computing were established in Cambridge, a public research university.
